:bigthumbJust got a quote from GEICO and they came in 269.00 per half lower for the exact same insurance coverage as Progressive!!!! Needless to say I switched.

2005 GT 100/300K CC 500/50
2003 Buick Regal Same coverage

+ roadhazard, rental, towing, first accident forgiveness

438.00 per half vice $707.00 per half renewal.

Needless to say there wasn't much of a decision to be made other than "where do I sign?". Will hope they are good at the rest of the job as they are on the quaotation. If not it will be time to shop again.

More money to put towards those Kooks LT headers next Spring !!!!!!!:bigthumb

I had Progressive for years and kept going up up and up plus heard lots of bad things about them not wanting to pay out to injured drivers. F___ Them.
Have Geico now cheap as hell and great customer service.

hmm i thought i heard GEICO wouldn't insure boosted cars...

???? Do you know of specific cases where Roushs, Saleens, Cobras, SHelbys, F150 Lightnings, Tbird SC's, Tbird TC's, Taurus SHO's, volvos, audis, porsches, SVO mustangs, Turbo (stock) mustangs, mercedes, etc. were refused coverage by GEICO because of being forced induction? This would be news to me. NO2, nonstreetable blower configs, and other non-streetable configs I could understand. Please elaborate in case there is something I have missed. Thanks

Just by searching Google GEICO doesn't seem to like modified cars. and I saw where they dropped a couple cars because of mods. Just trying to save ya a headache.

This is what I heard as well, I have heard of denying coverage for a Cobra that is factory supercharged and I also have heard of a guy in your situation with an 05+ GT that he supercharged being denied coverage. He wanted additional coverage for aftermarket work, sent them the receipts and they dropped him......

They didn't say anything about not covering modified cars when I talked to them. My Geico policy says right on it that my car has a 347, "other peformance parts", and custom paint and what each modification is valued at.

If they turn out to be a problem I haved family in the busniess who writes progressive and will insure me a fair rate. He can't compete with Progressive direct (not allowed). Did not know he was now writing Progressive in Ohio (he is in Bright IN) until after I went direct with Progrssive some years back. Therefore I am not worried about GEICO. Never was asked any questions by the agent on mods, etc. If it happens it happens. As a service provider they have the right to do as they wish. No problem. I also have the right to change carriers on a whim. Problem solved. Changing insurance is like changing socks, THey come off easy and they go on easy. Have a good day all! See you in the funny papers!!!!

99% of insurance companies will NOT pay for ANYTHING that is not considered either 'factory', or anything that is not mounted in a 'factory location', such as electronics, and stereo equipment. I've been through it, and know others have too. Most often you must have a separate rider to cover any upgraded items you have of substantial value added to the vehicle. If you don't disclose, or have a rider for upgrades, and have a claim, be ready for the fight of a lifetime with the adjuster...they will beat you to death on everything.
Different insurance companies have really screwy guidelines on things, some to which make no sense at all, (like when I had Ohio Casualty...they would write a policy for the 24' 454 boat, but not a 25' pontoon with a 110 horse outboard because the max boat size was 24.5 ft.????) but ultimately, it is up to the underwriter whether or not the policy gets written after a disclosure of upgrades is presented.

Insurance companies are a complete pain in the ass and control a good portion of the goings on in this country right now, with the help of sue happy lawyers.

My dad was hit in the side in his Gran Marquis a few weeks ago. NOT his fault, but the faulted drivers insurance (Allstate) refused to pay for new doors and demanded the body shop find used ones...it wasn't his fault his car was plowed into, that is total bullshit.

...I'll stop now before I REALLY get going on this!
Congrats on getting to save some $$!

I had State Farm for over 20 years and finally gave them the boot last year. I got better coverage at a lower rate with a local company. The entire insurance buisness is ridiculous and out of control. I've heard you should change companies every few years and thats what I intend to do. I gave my State Farm agent the benefit of the doubt and figured after all the years of doing buisness with him he haad my best interest at hand. Instead he was always out of the office for one reason or the other and all information was just typed into a computer by the secretary and out printed the bill. A heap of multi car discount and accident free discounts that added up too bullshit.

I called Geico today to pay my bill and talk to them about lowering the coverage on the Mustang for winter since I won't be driving it. They actually let me do it! Every other insurance company I have had would never let me do that on any other cars or motorcycles I have had. Its now just covered for theft, fire, and natural disater. This is going to save me a pretty decent chunk of change for the next 5 months or so. More money to spend on parts!

By the way this chopper that PJD built for them is sweet! I think Paul Jr. is already out doing his old man.

I would never use GEICO for any reason. Years ago I read they give free radar and laser guns to police depts. Why, so they'll write more tickets and insurance companies can raise their rates. I say no to GEICO! :flipoff:

Until I got my 86 done I had State Farm and they use to let me do that with my 86 T/A. Once everything was done I went to Hagerty and pay less than $300 a year for $10K coverage on the car and 300/100 comprehensive with towing, and theft.

Unfortunately, that's how it goes. If the car is 2 years old or less they must put new parts on it, but if it's older than 2 they don't require new parts from the automaker itself, therefore they use aftermarket or used parts. At least that is the law here in Indiana. I believe it's 2 years for new parts, IIRC.

You should say that little jingle while making a pass in the new notch, put a bag over the passenger seat though.

Thanks for the feedback. Will keep NW in mind. Wife was broadsided last week by some dingbat. Geico has been awesome thus far in helping go after the other person to get the claim moving ahead. Should this (it shouldn't) affect our premium that just went down AGAIN on the renewal last month I will follow up with either Nationwide or Farmers (who I loved when I lived in CA) and get other quotes. Funny nowadays that a nofault accident can hurt you when years ago it never had a single bearing on rates at all. When I was looking for a replacement to Progressive, I found that everyone was anting to no about ALL accidents not just any at-fault ordeals. They get you coming and going these days. Thanks again.

Sad to hear about progressive. I have praised progressive for years now. I have had a claim twice and it was amazing how well it went. Accident happened on a sunday (had a convertible and bought my daughter a new bike. Put the bike in and closed to top. Wasnt paying attention and stupid me was talking when the top was going up and broke the rear glass window.) Had a check in my hand monday and had it fixed the next day and had money left over. I have the wifes mariner fully covered, the hillbilly (big 79 chevy 4x4) and my clown miata car. My payment is 60.72 a month for all 3 cars. Deductible on mariner is 500. Just liability on the other 2. They have lowered my payments over the years for having a great driving history.
