I've got a '69 429, 11-1compression, flat top pistons w/valve reliefs
I also have a mid 70's 460, with dished pistons. Not sure of the comp. ratio on this one.
I have a set of D0VE heads. I also have an Isky cam, 565 lift, 232 duration @ 50 degrees. I think 282 total.
I'd LIKE to run the heads and cam on the '69 engine to make some power, but would I get in to some P2V issues?
ALSO, I want to run a stick shift in this car soo bad I can feel the clutch pedal... I've pretty much gave up hope on finding a CHEAP 3500/TKO so I am thinking I could go with a "small 4spd" 3 spd w/OD toploader.. (which I need to find...)
Any idea how I could run a mechanical clutch on an '85 fox since a cable is out of the question????

do you know the clearances on the heads? the cam MIGHT be too much without changing the pistons or at least the valvetrain.
how is the clearance on the firewall with the big block in your car? i've seen a BB fox with a cable clutch on it once...and as far as a toploader, you're better off finding a "cheap" tremec because its hard to find a "cheap" 4 speed toploader...ive been trying to find one for years for my dad to bolt under his Torino with no luck

The "imitation" toploader can be found for 100-200 fairly easy.
Now if you find me a blown up 3550 I'd be all over that, lol

ill see what i can do, while browsing a pull n pay lot down here before their $50 day (whatever you can carry out without a cart or bag or whatever is 50 bucks) my buddy an i were pissed cause we couldnt come away with a set of 4V heads, BUT lo and behold, as we were walking out, i looked over and saw it...a PERFECT T5!!! so we hid it in another vehicle and left, the next day, he went back and got it for 50 lol

Wasnt that a T45 not a T5? If he puts a shifter on it, I have the plate that you need to go on the trans first. Came with a hurst I bought years ago.

I'm thinking, if I could get an aftermarket bell to fit a 460 and it is made to fit a toploader to it, and use cable operated clutch, then I could get the T5 to toploader adapter plate, and as long as the length of the input shaft/bearing retainer is the same or even remotely close... I think I'll be cooking with fire!

the input shaft would be an easy thing to recreate if you get in good with Kevin while he is fabbin stuff up for his RX7 lol
