The motor is a .030 over 302. Im running twisted wedge heads, a victor EFI manifold with no pcv valve. I have a breather on each valve cover.

When the motor is cold or idling it runs clean.

When i drive it normal sometimes i can see a blue/grey haze behind me. When i put it under a load or rev it, it gets a good solid blue/grey smoke. and same goes when i give it a hard down shift and let the engine slow the car down with the clutch engaged.

I gave it a leak down test and all cylinders tested 0 leak down. I also took off my upper intake and tried to look in @ the intake valves to check for oil i could only see the valve stems but they had no oil on them that i could see.

the plugs are a little dark with a very small amount of oil deposit on some of them.

My next move is to run a pcv valve. Any one ever go through this? or know what my problem might be? Thanks in advanced.

If its a fresh rebuild then your rings probably haven't seated yet. Any ideas what kind of rings they are?

the rings are made by "sealed power" not sure what they are made out of.

yeah I wonder if they are chrome moly rings. I know they take a wile longer than other rings to seat. I have read and heard nightmares about them. I have them myself and I will never use them again.

What kind of condition are your valve guides and valve seals in? Oil could also be getting past those. You may also want to get a breather tank and run a 1/2" hose from each valve cover to the tank so you get more crankcase ventilation. Are you running EFI valve covers? If so where do you have the hose off the filler neck running to?

i just got the heads back from the machine shop befor i put them on. They told me the heads were pressure checked and good to go.

Well are you running EFI valve covers?

that i dont know.they are trickflow. no baffles. im going to buy baffled valve covers @ the same time i buy the pcv set up

O.K. do you have a hose running from one of the covers to your throttle body? If so that is another source from where the oil could be coming from. How many miles on the fresh motor? When the motor is cold your oil is thick. As soon as it gets warm it becomes thinner and there for much easier to escape past rings, seals or what have you.

im guessing i have 600-1000 miles on the rebuild. i did have that hose ran for a wile untell i saw what it was doing. now its blocked off with caps. and it did let alot of oil in. there was a puddle in my upper intake.

i have a 347 thats gettin oil in the intake through the pcv system i believe so i used took the hose from the pcv and ran it to a coke can and got a vented oil fill cap also. mine is fuel injected and so far this trial set up seems to be makin a noticeable difference. just a suggestion for a cheap try and see what happens. They do sell catch cans or vacum reseviors i just went the cheap way t see if it helps. If you have a stock efi valve cover and oil cap drill a hole in it to help vent things as well.

Hang on- the PCV is capped off? Do you have a different crankcase vent elsewhere, or are you basically sealed? That could be the cause of your problem there.

never heard of a engine that had 0% leak down. I think your gauge might be messed up.
