Soon to be working on a little project. The front and rear bumper chrome is not in the best shape plus I may do some contructive realignment of the bumper configuration. Any recommendations for re-chroming or maybe I should just strip the chrome and paint them.

What will the bumpers go on?

Old style muscle car - planning on a complete suspension redo for road racing. Whant to keep the car light weight, but yet still be street legal. I am still debating fiberglass bumpers with steel support/nerf bars behind them)

I'd rechrome them... depending on the car of course...

Have you tried contacting "The Bumper Boyz"? They have an Ad in Hemmings Motor news..

Dad got rechromed bumpers from them for his '65 Fairlane (HARD to find parts for)

The problem will be that I plan to do a little "work" to them so they fit more to the lines of the car. Whatever I do will either have to be painted or re-chromed.

Dare I ask what kind of car you are cooking up?

Re work the bumpers and then have them re-chromed.

yeah, the chrome bumpers are all metal, but are they REALLY that heavy that it would make that big of a difference?

I would do what you need to do to them, then rechrome. We used D&G custom chrome on the fire truck...they do great work! Talk to Danny 513-531-1881
