Why is it when you try to sell a car, very reasonably priced for the mods and condition that you get sooo many tire kickers and joy riders? I even send these people pics upclose of the bad spots, and describe them the best I can. I tell all in my adds it needs a paint job, and that it isint perfect. But when they show up, they want to complain that the paint needs re-done, they dont like the wheels or tires, they dont like the interior etc etc. I'm pretty sure I describe all that in the adds, and even over the phone before they drive to see it. But it never fails, they want a perfect body, gorgeous paint and alot of mods, cmon its a freakin $3500 car!!!
I dont let anyone drive the car unless they are VERY serious.

I have over $5k in this one, I'm settling for $3500obo, but I'm not out to get ass raped over it either... I agree Aaron, pretty dumb to cut your own throat on that kinda money unless you really need it that bad. I just cant beleive it. I know what you mean Sean, but when someone drives an hour to get to the car, you figure they are serious. He was referred to me by a fellow banger which is greatly appreciated, but when he got here he looked at everything that you normally wouldnt care about. He never checked the oil, coolant, or anything under the hood. He shook the back seat, rattled the shifter and picked apart my body like it was listed as a show car. Then an hour later txt me to offer mr $2000 for it. NO WAY IN HELL, I'll let it become a lawn ornament first...
Been there with my 76 trans am. Very good price and people wanted to pick it apart. I closed the garage door on a few people and got real shitty with a few more. People can be pretty stupid.

I'm not a tire kicker. IF the car in question is not in my price range, I don't make a low ball offer, but wait for the price to drop to my fair price. If it sells before that, oh well.
The $1000 Civic I bought through SBZ, poster listed it for his ex-wife, mentioned I could likely get it for $800. $1000 for the car was a fair price since I tallied up $600 in new parts that had been added recently. The car is NOT perfect, it IS a $1000 Civic with COLD A/C.
Also, when I post something for sale, the price is FIRM unless you are buy several items at once.

I know what you mean, I am a lil flexible on my price, but he gave me an offer that would be more geared twoards a ragged out beat to shit 5.0 that just ran and drove. This car isint show quality, but its solid and has some awesome mods, not to mention it romps. Idk, some people are just idiots...

I feel your pain. I hate selling stuff. I have been trying to help my dad out with selling his 70 Mach 1 since last fall. It has been on ebay twice and craigslist a handful of times along with a few other mustang sites. I have had more people stand me up on coming to see this car than you could possibly imagine. When I first starting posting it we were asking 20 grand and were pretty firm because it was not a must sell and just kinda feeling the market. People tried to trade me every POS you could think of and I had about a dozen cash offers between 8-12k which I find insalting and a few for 15k which dont really insalt me but could these people not read in big capitol leters NOT INTERESTED IN TRADES, PRICE IS FIRM. The last time it was on ebay we thought it sold for 17,500 and that was our bottom dollar. after that just fell through last week I decided to try craigslist again. This time I put 19,500 OBO figure thats a bit high but give a grand or two wiggle room. I had this clown come out today and look at the car. I was suprized! somebody actully showed up when they said they would! he loved the car. had nothing bad to say about it. He didnt nit pick it to death like everybody else tries to do before making a lowball offer. So after looking at it for about an hour and taking it out for a test drive he asks what the best we can do. we told him flat out that we thought we had it sold at 17,500 and thats as good as its going to get. He then says that his "wife gave him a budget" and he could give us 14. My dad is much nicer than me because I would have said im sorry your wife wears the pants in your family now get the fuck out of my driveway. Why would you waste somebodys time going to look at a car that is listed at nearly 20g when all your "allowed" to spend is 14?
ha haaa. What an ass hat. why would he think someone would just knock off @ 5000???? Give me his email addy and I will get him to come see my classic mustang that doesn't exist an hour and a half away at a fake address so he can see how it feels to wast time, money, and gas. I am serious man. I will fuck with this guy hard. I gotta a cherry 65 fast back. White with blue stripes that Ill let him have for 13500. Its at my farm in KY. lol

I appreciate the refferral, no hard feelings twoards whomever sent him my way. But if you do know him, you might teach him what is important to look at in a used car. He never pulled the dipstick, never checked the coolant, never looked at the first chassis parts, never actually spent anytime under the hood. Instead he wiggled my back seat base, flipped the ashtray lid a few times, tried the map light, all the accessories, then nit picked the hell out of the body. He actually said "I want to buy something I can be prould to drive" lmao! For $$3500 he's looking for a show car lmao! I told him I'll take a car with a dent in the fender that shakes when it idles and twist 6500rpm like nothing over a pretty/bone stock car anyday. I actually had to "coach" him on how to even drive a 5 speed, he was looking at the wrong car all together...

Tell me about it too...I had the Blue 98 Stang on here and I think that I had it priced to cheap or something. Because I got every tire kicker in the country. I buy and sell stuff all the time and this was rediculous. I priced the car to sell not to keep and it was a nice car that just needed exhaust. When I finally sold it, the guy was happy and drove it home giving me my asking price. It's just getting through all the jokers. I have a little saying that comes with selling and buying stuff, and that is "are you pricing it to keep it, or to sell it?" Now with that it doesn't mean give it away but it does mean that you price it on the upper end but not unreasonable.
Congradulations on your sale!
