You are going to sell the more expensive converter I loaned you to test with so we could pin down exactly what would work for your odd scenario.....

been a while I never heard anymore about this stolen converter.
So everyone knows the story I will tell it.
He came to me wanting a converter for an 800hp turbo car.
I said no problem I can do that. Then he said it has to be less than $400....ok now this is difficult.
So the only solution I had was to use an 11&1/4 (stock diameter) converter. Built with every upgrade possible for strength. The limitation of this setup is stall. It will only stall a little more than stock. He didn't mention then he had the biggest cams he could find and did not degree them either.
I knew he would eventually want to bring it back and trade it in for more stall and told him that. It would get the car going safely until the budget would allow a proper converter to motivate this car.
I figured I would eventually get the unit back and cut him a great deal I sold him the $525 billet 11 inch converter on my site with all the bells and whistles for $350 plus the stock core he had (I pay $75 for these) so essentially I gave him $100 off, which is common for the way I treat stangbangerz.
A couple months later he starts messaging me saying it did not stall enough. To which I replied basically to say that does not surprise me he needs a 9.5 inch converter to get enough stall to spool the turbo.
So several months go by of him messaging me wanting me to basically give him a converter that costs twice as much just to make him happy because he did not want to pay fair market value for a proper converter. That and some story about how some other company was going to sell him a 800hp safe converter for $400 that was the best thing since sliced bread.
Then the story became this converter is broken. I told him on numerous occasions bring the car over here and let me check it. He never did. Then he decided that because the converter sold for $525 on my site that I should just give him $525 back because that is what the retail is on these. I refused to do so because I knew what he had paid and why it wasn't what he wanted, because he was too cheap to buy what he needed. At one point I even humored him by telling him bring the receipt for proof of purchase price and I would refund it minus 15% restocking fee.He wanted to rook me into giving it to him free. Finally one day he showed up with a friend. I cut the converter open and showed it to him. Every last part looked like brand new. The ink on the clutch wasn't even smeared. The entire unit was great. To be polite I offered to put it back together for him free of charge, but that wasn't good enough he wanted the converter he really needed without paying for it. I happened to have a 10 inch unit set to 3800 stall ready to ship. It needed a few upgrades to really handle his application and it's cost would have been $725. I told him to try it as is because I was certain it woudl handle a weekend or 2 of racing to see if it was sufficient for him. If he decided that combination pleased him he could bring it back and I would install the upgrades to it and all he would have to pay was the difference in price from the 2 units. This would have been $200 figuring retail to retail. Still an incredible deal on a converter of this magnitude. I even told him I suspected it would be too much stall and we would probably have to go a bit lower but I would do that at the same price.
a few days later he put it here for sale and I made that reply.
Bangingears,
Be proud you ripped me off, you bought an inexpensive unit that was not enough for your car knowing that from the beginning. Then took advantage of my kindness and trust to steal. You completely use this place to sell your crap and I feel sorry for anyone that deals with you.If it hadn't been for the friend you brought with you and his reputation I would not have trusted you at all. You have shamed you and your friend with your inconsiderate, theiving and cheapskate actions. The amount of trust I put in many people has lowered thanks to your lowlife activities. As far as I am concerned stolen property is worthless because it is supporting a theif which will only promote them to go steal again. I told you exactly the truth about everything from the very beginning and bent over backwards to please you, you were not worthy of this kind of service.

We are truely blessed to have such a gifted converter man such as dirtydog as a local converter builder for all us on SBZ. He is on the cutting edge of converter development and research. Remember, all the fast nmra guys use his stuff, as I am sure so does adrl, x275, 8.5 OL and 10.5.OL, nhra, etc. I am suprised companies like PTC, UCC, Neal Chance, coan, and A1 are able to remain in business. I want to thank you for being an outstanding citizen and a prime example of a local business owner.

because I take people for their word expecting it to mean something, and I am vocal about it when it goes wrong. It is called warning people. If someone ripped you off would you warn people about that person?
