I've got this engine I bought awhile ago. The heads have a full port and polish job and crane rocker arms on it. I'm thinking they are regular GT-40's. How do I tell if they are? Any stamping or something to ID them versus stock e7's? Thanks guys!

Yep, next to the bottom row of head bolts on the outside lower corner on each end of the head. If they say P, then they are GT40P heads. Still a great head either way.

The P heads have 4 bars cast into the front and the regular GT40 heads have 3 bars.

Yep, GT40's have the 3 bars on the end, and the letters "GT" next to one of the lower head bolt holes on the outside. They also say GT in the surface where the rocker mounts protrude out of the head.

GT40P's have 4 bars on the end of the head, and where say "GTP" by the head bolt mentioned above. They will also say GT40P in the same spot in the valley of the head. Also, GT40P's will not have thermactor ports in the ends of the head.

VERY easy to distinguish the difference.

I just went out and checked. They are regular GT-40's. Thanks for all of your help guys. I've always had trick flows or eldebrocks(sp?) and never anything non-aluminum. LOL :bigthumb:bigthumb
