Keep an eye out for newer tailgates also. Tim put a newer one on his 2000 ish f250 and it looks cool

I put an 09 bed and tail gate on my 01 F350. You can get a new 99 style tailgate from autobody panels for around $75 using the stangbangerz account.

those are only on the lariat trucks. if it does not have a factory bed liner, it does not have steps. Mine does not have them.

I can't find anything, that disproves that, but it is my understanding that all Super Duty tailgates, had the steps. I found pics that were just 4x4, or King Ranch, but nothing else.

There is a thread on F150forums.com, that talks about it and it never mentioned the part about Lariats. Maybe I'm wrong, but I need more to go on.

so is the tailgate the same size froma newer f250? Is it the same size from an f150 to an f250 or an f350?

I think they are different, after the '10 model. As far as I know, the '97 thru '09 mounting and latch system, are the same. It's the integrated steps, that we are at odds on.

I am not 100% sure on the Lariat thing. I can tell you that I picked up an 09 take off bed and tail gate. My tailgate does not have steps, but does have the big ford emblem in the middle and the stamped "SUPER DUTY" on the bottom. The ones with steps are intigrated into the bed liner, so whatever trim level option gets you a factory bed liner, should get you steps.
