The motor has a Ford B303 cam, 24# injectors w/ MAF sensor, TFS Track Heat upper and lower intake, 70mm Pro Products throttle body,Ford Racing 1.7:1 roller rockers. The rearend has 4.10:1 gears and comes w/16 inch Pony 5 stars with brand new tires. There is some surface rust and small dings in the body. After market fiberglass hood. The body is solid but needs paint. The interior is in excellent condition no tears and all the interior panels are in great shape, the carpet is also like new. I also have a 302 bored .030 over fresh from the machine shop that comes w/ TRW forged pistons, reconditioned connecting rods, new hardend push rods, new hydraulics roller lifters, new timing chain, oil pan w/ oil fitting for turbo, new head bolts and oil pick up tube with these parts and the existing motor you would have a brand new 306 C.I. motor I also have 30# injectors that go with it all. Everything you need to build a new lower end is here accept for the crank. Asking $3500.00. This car is light and extremely fast. I am trying to get away from the Hot Rods and settle down. I would consider trading for another car or truck that is easy on gas and insurance. Call me at 859-760-5644 with any questions. I can text you pics or email them to you I just have not had time to take any yet. You can also email me at talsboychris@aol.com. Thanks for your interest, Chris.

I believe the car was a Kentucky State Trooper vehicle but not totally sure. If somebody wants to spend the money to CarFax it I will provide the VIN. CarFax should know.

what makes you think it was a factory interceptor then? I mean what clued you in it was a police car, because I'm not seeing anything that would lead me to think that in the pics you sent me, but I could be missing something.

Got any pics of the buck tags ?? Last year that Kentucky used SSP's was 1990 I believe.

Some cars, the only way you can tell is by buck tags. Not all of them came with roll bars and spotlights and some of the other parts like silicone hoses where available through the aftermarket by the '90s. My car was unmarked, so if it wasn't for the hole in the floor where the electronics station bolted up, and the buck tags, you'd never know by looking at it. On mine there's also a spot on the passenger dash that's like nasty glue or something that was from a factory installed calender...which to me seems absolutely stupid, why would you glue on a cheap paper calender?

Being red my not help depending on the original color, that is if you can tell. Many states ripped off the decals, lights, cb stuff, and extra interior brackets. Then they would drop it off at a local shop and have a quick cheap paint slapped on and send it to auction. Just depends where it was from and what funds they had.

Mine was easier to tell being a 90' and a CHP, since it had the single key option, original car number key tag, trunk release relocated, no ignition release. When I got mine, someone had patched the spot light holes, and mine just had ants. and interior lights, no roof light bar. Kick myself for letting it go.

Well if it makes you feel any better, mine had the original SSP steel rims on it with the center caps and everything and when i traded for it i said "what's with these stupid steelies? i'll keep my 10 holes" and missed out on some rims that sell for $600+ now.

The easiest way is for him to post a pic of the driver door decal and if possible the BUC tags on the radiator support. The door decal should give a 6 digit DSO. From that it will first confirm it is an SSP. Second if it was a state agency it will show that as well. If it is a generic DSO it could still have belonged to a state agency or a local PD. It is also possible if the car was originally red and it has GT style seats that it belonged to a Federal agency (FBI, DEA, ATF...). As already stated above roll bars, lights, single keys, etc... are good clues but all ones that can be done to clone one. A 6 digit DSO with a matching VIN on the door decal and dash will show it is a true SSP.

Well I would have sooner, but every picture was a huge gif file and I had to edit each one and change it to a .jpg file for me to host it. I will host them for him for a few weeks, then delete them from my server. Took forever to do this it seemed.

The way I figure it was a patrol car is all the hook ups for the comuter and what not are still there under the passengers seat... I will get some pics of them and you can tell me what you think. There is a Ethernet cable and some other wires under the passenger seat, but there are no ground effects on the car what so ever.

From the looks, the hood seems to be a boss inc, that has been cut open. Depending on the state there may still be a sticker on the radiator support for "added wiring harness" I believe mine was located on the underside of the stock hood.

Good luck though. Looks like fun :)

it should have a 160 certified speedo i believe mine does and the buck tags also mine has stickers also placed on the backside of the glove box

fastford1996
07-01-2010, 12:02 PM
Where are the buck tags located and what are they? My speedo is a 140. And for some reason there is a thick piece of tow chain bolted under neath the backseat. It is about 2 feet long and bolted to the floor pan in between the rear seat bucketts.

If it doesn't have the certified speedo, then it isn't a police interceptor from the factory. It also has the wrong alternator iirc. It could have still been used by a police department and not purchased under the state contract. I doubt that tho.

Then what the heck are all these wires that are under the passengers front seat?

1_slo_92
07-01-2010, 01:04 PM
old car phone wires? i had a 91 that had wires like that and thats all they were for.

Stangman
07-01-2010, 01:37 PM
I had an old '89 GT that used to have a cell phone mounted in it (mounted in the same place the police had their computers mounted, and it had lots of wiring going to the back for the antenna... but obviously being a GT i knew it wasn't a police stang.

A friend of mine has an '87-'88 5.0L 5 speed coupe that was owned by the state of Illinois for like 7 or 8 years then sold and I coulda SWORE it would have been an SSP car, but no buck tags, doors were replaced with power doors, and all that good stuff... I've yet to see if there were any extra holes in it to see if it had a computer mount on the trans hump. Plus when my buddy got it, it had been wrecked, completely repainted bright red, cowl hood, the whole 9 yards.. So if it was an SSP... there is NO evidence anymore... I think if it wasnt, it was bought outside of the contract and used as an undercover... it was originally a black 5 liter car, with red non power interior and a 5 speed... that sounds about as undercover as it gets!

fastford1996

These wires are 2 sets of electrical wires and 2 ethernet cords. one set comes out close to the passengerside door and the other set comes out close to the back of the passengers seat. ? ? ? ?[/COLOR]

Besides i'm pretty certain all that crap is removed when the car is retired. I've never seen an SSP with a bunch of wires under the seats. All the electronics come out of them. The only real way to know is buck tags and door stickers. God knows what kind of junk could've been installed in a car that's 20 years old.

fastford1996
07-01-2010, 10:10 PM
20 Years old thats true.

jccox77
07-01-2010, 11:58 PM
some wiring was left in some of them ifound the clutch pedal kill switch that was on the fhp cars still in tact and some of the wiring was still under the carpet just cut at both ends

NXcoupe
07-02-2010, 12:45 AM
It's a car phone hookup, that was the same thing that was in my vert, I pulled out all the stuff for it. The old style car phones from the 80's and 90's had a ton of wires and antenna wires, the box was in the back, and the phone itself was up front, had power cables.
bottom line, if it doesn't have the cert speedo, have the stickers in the windows, the buck tags, the marking on the door jamb, etc, it is not a police car. The fact that it is that color and has the GT seats means it is not a police car. But it is a nice 93 5.0 coupe with a black interior. I would market it as that. You'll sell it quicker and make less of an issue with it.

chris91

Also according to this there were no 93 SSP's for KY.

PLEASE ACCEPT MY SINCEREST APOLOGY

BY NO MEANS OR IN ANYWAY DID I INTENTIONALLY MEAN TO MISLEAD ANYBODY. NOR DID I THINK THAT MY ASSUMPTION THAT THIS WAS AT ONE TIME A PATROL UNIT BRING MORE VALUE TO THIS CAR. I HOPE THAT THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE WILL ACCEPT MY APOLOGY AS GENUINE AND SINCERE. SORRY, CHRIS.

The fact that it is that color and has the GT seats means it is not a police car.

GT seats were an option for the SSP's as was any stock Mustang color. All government SSP's had GT seats once they became an option, which I believe was in 1990...but they were all AOD's. :bigthumb

Ok, guess I should have clarified, in my experience, and what I've seen, then insert the rest of what I said, lol. If they were an option, I'll take your word on it, this is the first one I have seen with anything other than a 4 cyl interior, I know the few guys I know that are lucky enough to have these things have the low buck interior in them. And I have only seen them in white or black or tan. But then again, I have done no research and don't know all that much about them, but since it doesn't have the certified speedometer, it was either swapped or is not a police car, am I right on that? at least? throw me a bone here. lol
