Installed a new Brake system. Cobra brake booster, Cobra master cylinder, all new stainless bent lines, Willwood proportioning valve, Cobra calipers, Brembo cross-drilled rotors, and a 5-Lug conversion. Threw on some 18" Cobra wheels that I had laying around.

Now comes the fun part. My torque box was so tore up and rusted out it was unusable. Had to cut it out and replace it with a Wild Rides S-Box.

Only takes 1 day to get the thread caught up for over 2 years worth of work. That just ain't right :)

Plan for the engine is a 347 single turbo. I'm looking to get as close to 4 digit HP numbers as I can with a 302 based block. Probably going to use a Boss block.

New fenders and first new hood. YES I said FIRST Hood. :( :( :( Thanks to our friends at Liberty Fiberglass I am $1000 poorer. They sell by far the worst quality hoods ever. The painters spent lots of time trying to smooth out the bubbles and they just kept popping back up. They painted it and let it cure. Guess what? The bubbles in the gel coat came back. After I bought the hood I started seeing many other people having these issues with Liberty Fiberglass. I guess they do not cure the fiberglass correctly. I learned my lesson about not researching a company before buying anything, and getting what you pay for. I should have known something was up when my receipt was written out on a Wendy's napkin.... So now I have a new hood from Cervini's on order. My painters have been awesome though, they are not going to charge me to prep and paint the new hood!!!

Well believe it or not as luck would have it I found a rust free set of 87 T-top doors on Ebay. The auction said "PICKUP ONLY" and I was disappointed till I saw it was only in Louisville. So I snatched them up right away for $250 for the set with windows and all! This has by far been the best find of the whole project.

Its been a while since I've updated my build thread. There have been some developments in the project which have caused me to be side tracked. Unfortunately for my brother, he flipped his whippled 10th Anniversary 03 Cobra and totaled it. So needless to say I was confronted with an opportunity to put an 03 cobra motor in the car in lieu of going with a 302 based block that I had originally planned. I bought the car back from insurance and have been parting out all the things I don't need.

Thanks. Yeah he is ok. He has already replaced it with a kb 03 cobra. Md did the tune on the one he wrecked. In fact I will probably have to have it changed to disable the pats system at least for testing.

I figure its time to update a bit. I haven't done much as I've been out of town for the last couple months. Anyway I had to put a new K-Member in to handle the 4.6 block. Of course that created more problems. I had to buy a new center shaft for my new steering shaft since the rack is in a slightly different place with the new K-Member.

I also had to cut off the sway bar brackets because the drivers side bracket interferes with the alternator on the 4.6. I'll have to figure something out for that later....

Next came modifying the pedal assembly. I wanted to use the cobra pedals to get the more comfortable pedal spacing that the 03 had, but I did not want to do a dash swap. So I took the 87 integrated pedal / steering column bracket and cut it in half. I then welded that to the 03 cobra pedal assembly. I was left with a bracket that housed the 03 cobra pedals and the 87 steering column. Someone on Modular Fords did a pretty nice write up that was easy to follow!

I'm almost done with the wiring. I'm using the 03 cobra wiring harness from headlight to taillight. I'm making a custom wiring harness for the car by removing the items (traction control, abs, air bags, etc) that i'm not going to use. I've removed all the "fat" from each wiring harness by unpinning all the wires not needed. This has been a tedious process but has really cleaned up the wiring. I've used the Helm book and color coded everything that gets removed and the harness it got removed from.

The only real problem I had getting the motor in was it had to be perfectly level for the motor mount bolts to clear the k-member. If it was not level the heads would hit the firewall preventing the motor mount bolts from going into the k-member guides. This took some time to get perfect.

Like I said I have been working on power steering lines and the cooling system. I had to make custom power steering lines using Russell AN fittings. I was hoping to reuse the ones from the 03 Cobra but they sat up too far and interfered with the windshield wiper motor. I tried to bend the factory steering lines slightly to clear the wiper motor but I ended up splitting the pipe. The cooling system has been mostly custom as well since I've mounted the intercooler and radiator resivors in different locations.

It's a 2.3 whipple with a 22psi pulley. I'm shooting for under 4 digits now since I got the smaller 2.3 supercharger on the cheap off my brothers old 03. Still hoping for something over 700 :D

All i could say looking at the updates was wow! I love the all black engine (I am gonna do the same on mine) with the blue valve covers. What paint did you use to paint the block tranny and oil pan? Cant wait to see the numbers!

Thanks for the comments. The engine paint is just a semi flat black engine enamel. The headers were coated in a black ceramic. Just spray it on and bake them.

Finished running hoses for the cooling radiator and supercharger. Also finished up the power steering lines and a few other odds and ends in the engine bay.

I have been working on finishing up the wiring for the rest of the car. I'm mainly using the complete 03 cobra wiring harness and modifying the circuits that need to interface with the fox switches and such.

Yeah I totally agree with you. I've seen a lot of pictures with the SN95 dash and it does not look right with the old style door panels. Keeping the fox dash requires more wiring but that is in my wheel house so its not been any trouble.

Spent some more time working on the car lately. All I need is a drive shaft and a fuel pump and fuel lines and I'll be ready to start her up for the first time!!!
