Hey S197 owners with standard shift transmissions. Are you looking for a clean easy way to provide 12v switched and fused power to your gauges or other 12 voltage add on source? There is an easy way.

Under your center console is a wiring harness that has a spare unused connector on it. Ford referes to it as C307. It is a 6pin connector that is used to supply power and automatci shift selector. It is fused @ 10 amps via Fuse F2.17.

Color codes -

Pin 1 Black (BK) - Ground
Pin 4 Light Blue/Red (LB/RD) - illumination power
Pin 5 Light Blue/Yellow (LB/YE) - Voltage in Run/Acc (12vdc)

I verified these this evening on my 2005. Color codes may vary pending year of car.

This is all you need for installation and illumination of those gauges you are itching to install. And yes the illumination power is tied straight into the dimmer.

The center console comes out easy. remove the shift knob. Pull off the snapped in shifter trim boot. Be carfeul not to break it. Open the center console lid and remove the back two exposed phillips head screws. Pull the e-brake lever up as high as it will go. The center portion of the console will now come out using an upward and forward direction of removal. You will see the 6 pin gray connector near the e-brake lever mounting bracket. It is the only connector under there not being used.
