SN-66 Coupe

I've been woing on this for a little over a year now but haven't posted up here. I know this build has been done before with a bigger budget, SN65 fastback.

The 96 Vert I bought from Brandon, he had it listed on here for sale with front end damage.

The 66 wheelbase is 6.7" longer than the 96. I'm leaving the engine against the firewall, but moving the suspension and steering forward. I'll have to extend the steering shaft and relocate the oil filter, which falls mid K-member once relocated. The engine will remain in the current K-member, I'll graft bits off another K-member to move the steering and suspension.

Finally got Bob his parts off the 96.

I also took the wheels and brakes off the Cobra, and took the vert roof off. I was going to give the roof away to a local father son project but accidentally tore the canvas. I still haven't told the father yet, ouch. I did notice the vert back glass has rear defroster element built in glass, and it looks almost same dimensions as the 66 rear glass, more to come on that.

I like those wheels! With the 66 body over them, will definitely need fender flares again, box flares this time.

More progress:

There was a few spots where on the inner rocker panels that had remnants of floor and seat riser, got rid of them and cleaned the inner rockers up. Then I started on my stilts. I'm going to use thee to raise and lower the 66 body and to roll it around. It has to fit to the outside of the body so the 96 can roll under it. Not pictured, I cut the 66 dash out. The floor was crudely patched, it was held in with pop rivets. I'm taking held to the rocker panels with rivets. The more I dig up hidden fix jobs the more I feel good about destroying the car and realize this car was a perfect candidate for what I'm doing. It's soft in all the right places.

My guess on the body weight as is, around 300 lbs.

I spend the rest of he day carefully dismantling the 96 more. Got the pedals out, wiring harness, and a few other items. I want to get the AC box out but need the tools.

Everything I've taken off the 96 I have given away. I found a guy on the Vintage forums that have been through a rough time in the past 5 years since I he and I moved to Ohio. He's coming down from Akron this weekend, I'm giving him the engine, tranny, wiring harness and a lot of other stuff.
