I can't fully explain as I'm no wiz on these. But i do know that on your standard intel boards that has DDR, the pin size is different compared to an intel board with pci express has 240 pins.

DDR2 is the 5300mhz ram and the 6400mhz ram is DDR3 which of course has a different pin count and interlock offset
