I went to put my distributor in my motor today and the middle part that spins for the oil pick up isnt centered. Is this normal? What should I do to get it centered to put the distributor in? I can put pics up later cause I dont really know how to explain it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

If you mean it is laying sort of to one side, that is normal. The shaft is tapered and the distributor shaft is tapered in, so it will self align.

You may need to turn the distributor shaft, slightly to get it to seat.

Chas, I told you this part is all good. It still won't go in though. He has a non roller motor in place of a stock 5.0 HO. Im not sure what cam is in it, he might be able to tell you, but what distributor gear do we need to run on the stock dizzy?

You may need to tap the engine over just a bit to get it to seat down.

I posted this before we found out it moved. I have been looking around and I'm going to try a non roller 302 distributor gear. I belive the cam is a stage 2 crower .545 solid lift.
