Street Car Shootout....Discussion

The date is set for Sept 18th. We will leave the old Kmart parking lot (Near the Forest Fair Mall)at 12:30 and head to Tri-State.
When we arrive, you will get tech'd in and use the number they give you. After a run, you will stop by the Street Car Shootout "Pop Up" (It will be set up near the Ticket shack)and report your ET and MPH and show your time slip.

NOW, do you guys want.......

1. Your Best ET of the day to count?
2. An Average of your 2 Best Runs?
3. An Average of your 3 best runs?
4. One Hit, One run?

The track is open from 1pm-5pm and I would like to have time to get the top 12 their stickers and snap some pictures before we all leave.

So.....

1. Should there be a cutoff time at 4pm? (ie. IN the lanes before 4pm)
2. Run till TS says the lanes are closed and I can mail you your Top 12 Sticker?

Let me know what you guys are thinking. Dave did a Kick Ass job on the stickers so it will be worthy to show next to your SBZ DD sticker.

This is open to ALL makes and models of cars and trucks. The only rule is that the vehicle has to be able to be driven on public roads, LEGALLY, make the trip to the track and leave the track under its own power.

I would like to have everything finalized by the end of the week and post up an official Thread on Tuesday the 7th.

I'd say best pass of the day, run as many as you want. Someone may want to call/email/talk to tristate to let them know that we are running a shootout on the 18th..if they could prep the track a bit extra it would be welcomed.

Slow guys are going to want a avg fast guys the best pass . Not going to make eveyone happy . The avg of all the passes only helps you out if you get one good pass in so the one hit wonder goes out the window . Because if you go 10.30 10.30 and 9.0 your avg is 9.86 if you go 10.30 .10.30 10.40 you avg is 10.33 so it only helps the on hit wonder move up with using a avg of 3 passes , and you get all day in 6 or 7 runs your going to have more than 1 or 2 good runs . I dont care either way but i still vote for lineing up the top cars and racing them . That takes the one hit wonder out of the mix .He has to go down the same junk track you do line them up :bigthumb

So we will need to have the cutoff at 3pm. Then the top 12 will have to run back to back with minimal cool down time in order to get it in by 5. Thats not counting all the other cars that will be there.:eek:

Im kind of digging an actual shootout. Take the top 16 and line them up on a ladder. 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15 on the other side etc etc. That way the top 2 "SHOULD" meet in the final....Now we are getting a bit Hairy in the logistics part. Im thinking TS might want some $$ if we come asking for them to host an actual shootout. Im looking at it like, hey, we are bringing you EXTRA gate money so how about you hook us up. But they dont always see it that way.
Now if we all just show up and do our normal T&T and we keep track of our own, it would be a lot simpler....WTF!! Why is this Shit so complicated!!?!??!:mad:

Im with you on the actual shoot out, i am sure we can come up with a couple people that arent running that will help the brackets. i usually have 2 or 3 people that come with me just to watch. im sure they will help.

wether you do the best pass or average pass really doesnt matter to me, but what does matter is seeing these cars run more than 1 or 2 passes.

With some minimal effort I think we run the shootout ourself. Triskate opens at 12:30..runs 1 to 5pm. So meet at the K-mart lot at 11:30 am...leave for tristate at Noon. Guys can run qualifing passes (how ever many you want) untill 2:30. Your best pass is used for qualifing. Top 16 get put on a Pro ladder. 1st round at 3pm. That gives us 2 hours to run 4 rounds. Little tight time wise..but it should work. I mean these are street cars right...how much cool down time do they need:lol:

I think I figured it out......

We will run the Shootout and award the top 16 with a Cool Sticker.

IF WE HAVE THE TIME, we will take those Quick 16, pair em up, and run them HEADS UP for the title of King of the Street!!! No 2nd place, no 16th place, just the car that can survive 4 rounds of racing!! (Limited on cool down time due to time restraints)

Ill have to talk to the girls up at TS and see if they can help us out and see if we can get this done in 4 hours!!:eek:

The Mfer is TUBBED it has a 32x14.5 under it we don't just have those in a radial laying around my yard. I thought it was going to be a bunch of fast cars show up make a cool trip and see who can snap who off. Then all these custom rules started popping up. The Squid and the Stocknotch are both on slicks and the Squid gets drove everday on them. Its at Sun Chemical in Franklin right now. One of our buddies drove it to work this morning

I think I am going to go to this and press my luck on motor. I would spray the car but UMTR is my focus right now. And I cant afford to have something stupid happen to the motor. I am sitting in 2nd place right now and only 20 points out of 1st.
