Im just curious... Does anyone do this on the race cars and how well does it work? I have the headers on my car now and all they have ever been sealed up with was high temp red RTV. He said he never had any problems and what he uses on all of his cars. I used high temp Copper RTV rated at intermittent 700 degrees. Hope it works and dont leak. And if not where can I get the gaskets for the diagonal bolt pattern Kooks headers?

I've heard the turbo crowd swear by it. It works, but what i don't like is once it blows out, it's blown out. Sometimes with a gasket, it might leak and you can retorque the bolts and seal them up, but with RTV once it blows out you have to take them off and redo it.

I have had good luck with ultra copper gasket maker, seals good and lasts along time.

Sounds good then! I used the Ultra Copper and hope for the best! I'd hate to have to do them again!!!

Let it set up before you start it.

Ultra copper RTV is what I am using on my DD to fix the miles of two broken manifold bolts and a warped manifold. From the factory there isn't a gasket.

Well from the sounds of it, its a good product for the use. I know the guy that had them on his car used it and swore by it so thats what Im using now.

I stopped using gaskets after trying the copper stuff years ago. Even on aluminum heads works great on my turbo setup! go for it

about every leaky turbo kit i have seen, i fixed with this method.:bigthumb

i have always found if you use some on the bolts, let them cure..the bolt dont back out either. some roundy pounders showed me that trick way back when

Well I used the Ultra Copper to install my headers. I used about a 1/4" bead all the way around the flange but due to the headers being a pain in the ass I hope they seal up! What a nightmare! Drivers side went in easy but the passenger side I had to massage with a BFH to get them to work. I think due to the 9.5 deck height and the TH400 tranny that it makes it almost impossible. Here is the completed passenger side which was the worst. 1 tube I had to flatten to get it to lay right on the frame rail.
