I'm considering getting some 4.10s for my 98 cobra and was wondering which company everyone prefers?

As long as you get Ford Racing gears with a part number that doesn't end in M and you have someone reputable install them you should be very happy.

OEM are best, Ford racing is the cheapest way to get them, as stated avoid the M as those are motives and hard to set up.

If I were you I would go with a 430 gear if it is naturally aspirated. Definetly your best bet for a Cobra. I would go with a Ford Racing gear for sure. Easiest to set up and they are quiet.

I agree, don't fear the gear but I don't know if you can get an actual Ford (non-Motive) gear in a 4.30.

factory shims work with the ford gears. Just do a paint test and new trac lock set while its out.

Motives do at least put the measurement on the head. If you look up the measurement info and add or subtract to match you should get a good pattern as long as you get your backlash set between .008 and .010. On occasion I have had to sacrifice a little backlash for a good pattern, usually when using used gears. I do not know of any OEM 4.30's.
