My Dad has been talking about doing a project Chevette to run at Brown County and thought it might be cool to put one together for fun and see how it turns out.
I was looking over the rules from the 2009 season and it sounds pretty limited as far as suspension and trans go.
Our question is what do these guys have in the motors of these things? The rules seem pretty lenient on these when it comes to the engine itself. Here's what the rules from their site say:
ENGINE
1. Must be stock appearing, Chevette gas engine only, in stock position.
No Chevette diesel engines.
2. Header ok, aftermarket header ok.
3. Carburetor must be factory stock appearing on the outside. Chevette 2 (two)
barrel Holley intake or Chevette 1 (one) barrel Holley intake. You may also use
an aftermarket adaptor plate to make a two barrel carburetor fit a one barrel
Holley intake or use a aftermarket Sheet Metal type.
4. Fuel: Gasoline or Racing Fuel (No Alcohol).
5. Must be stock ignition, no after market ignition allowed.
6. Aluminum radiator optional.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these and knows what it might take to be somewhat competitive.
