I got up early this am, and the cbus news said the mayor of I beleive Morain got killed as a innocent bystandard. They said he drove into the path of a street race, and got hit by one of the cars. They also said the police are still looking for the 2nd car they beleive was in the race that got away. I'm not positive the town is correct, but I know this is the general story. Anyone got anymore info? Dbags like this make all of our lives harder...

Driver in mayor's deadly crash cited 8 times for no license

Updated 4:27 PM Monday, October 18, 2010

DAYTON — The driver of the car involved in the car crash that killed Moraine Mayor Bob Rosencrans had been cited eight times since 2008 for driving without a license.

Rosencrans was killed Friday night when his car was struck by another as he waited to turn left onto an entrance ramp for U.S. 35, Dayton police said. Rosencrans, 61, was dead at the scene on South Gettysburg Avenue, investigators said. He had been alone in his car.

Rosencrans had been Moraine’s mayor since January 2010, his second time in that office. He was first elected to the Moraine City Council in 1991.

Two adults and a child in the car that collided with Rosencrans’ vehicle were injured and taken to hospitals, police Lt. Brian Johns said Saturday. He did not have details of their injuries.

The driver, 21-year-old Mark A. Myles Jr., his passenger, 20-year-old Rita Higgins and 2-year-old Raan’Ya Myles were taken to area hospitals. The elder Myles and Higgins were taken to Miami Valley Hospital where they were initially listed in serious condition. The 2-year-old was taken to Children’s Medical Center of Dayton, police said. A hospital spokeswoman said the little girl was discharged Monday.

The wreck shortly after 7:30 p.m. Friday shut down that section of Gettysburg Avenue for three hours.

No charges have been filed. It could take several weeks to conclude the investigation, including awaiting the results of toxicology tests on the victims, Johns said.

“The mayor was turning left to get onto 35 and he was struck by a vehicle,” Johns said. “We’re not really sure yet who was at fault in the accident.”

Police Sgt. Steven Clark said police were told that the vehicle that hit Rosencrans’ car had been seen racing with another car shortly before the fatal collision involving the mayor. Johns said he had no information on that report.

Moraine city officials said Rosencrans would be missed.

“He served on so many committees because he loved this city,” said deputy mayor Elaine Allison, now serving as acting mayor, under provisions of the city charter regarding the death of a sitting mayor. “He kept at it and worked through the tough times.”

“He represented the city well, built bridges throughout the region, if we needed that support,” said David Hicks, Moraine’s city manager. “He always put the city first.”

Southwestern College nursing student Frances White, 25, said she and fellow student Kenetha Kirk came upon the accident scene shortly after the collision. The wreck trapped everyone in their cars, White said.

White said a man trapped in one of the cars begged her to remove the young child to safety, which she did. Another passer-by showed up with a fire extinguisher and prevented the car from catching fire before police and fire crews arrived, she said.

May have just been an accident. Police haven't Finished investigation yet. Sounds like a legitimate 16 second car. 8 times for unlicensed driving is insane. I say on the second offense the vehicle is impounded/auctioned. I'm sure they'll hammer him after all the cards fall.

Racing or not its still a shame, noone should have to go that way.

BTW, here's his full DL.
