FUGGIN CRAIGSLIST!!!!!!

So I find a "factory LX 5.0 5 sp car" on CL cincy. I spend the better part of a week talking to this ADHD challenged woman, and learning her whole life story. After we get down to the basics, we arrange a trade for my 98 Sable on her 92 LX hatch car. She sends me some really shitty pics, but it looks decent in the pics yada yada. I specifically asked her 3 times if the car would make the drive safely from Amelia to Lima, 2.5 hrs (150miles) and she said yes. On saturday afternoon I talked to her son (in his 20's) about this car. He confirms everything she said. So I talk my wonderful girlfriend into following me down in her Jeep, just incase something happens I wont be stuck. She agrees, and we hit the road. We get there, and this car is junk! It has main knock. the starter hits the flywheel so hard it kills the battery, it smokes and spews oil all over the drivers side of the engine box, the clutch cable is so janked it wont let you change gears, so the son's answer to that is to revv it and slam it into gear. He said "once you get it going, you can keep driving it easy without the clutch". We go on the test drive, because I figure what the hay, lets romp in ti for the wasted trip. It's a slug, and the car pushes through the clutch to the point you have to hold the brake to even stay at a stop. The cowl is trashed from the hood coming up (which was never mentioned" and we got stranded on our test drive because I made him drive it back and he killed it turning around and the starter was dragging so hard it drained the battery again. It's on cincy cl under 92 mustang v8 $1800 now, beware of this piece of art! Dont go after it unless you have a car trailer and a huge wallet. I wont even get into the sh!t that was hacked up on the interior... Sorry this is sooo long, but I was out $100 after fuel in my sable, my girls jeep, and dinner at the outback (which wasnt that great)...

Well the first posting was over $2k, so I expected a good running driving car. They lied out their arses to me. I'm headed down south thursday to look at another GT, wish me luck, thanks for letting me rant on this one lol... My biggest beef is I try so hard to make sure I describe as honestly as I can, and in most cases make it sound worse than it is. But atleast when they see my stuff, the say it looks better than I made it sound to be. Far better than the other way I think...

Ive come to find the same problems with CL. I had a guy with a Yellow notch from up in Lima tell me his car was great and no rust on it at all. Needless to say, it was FAR from what he said it was and I went on my way. Ill never drive over a hour for a car again unless I have TONS of pics and a video of it running, etc. Good luck with the other one man, hope it goes well.

I don't bother with Craig's List. As a rule of thumb I don't trust people and CL just makes it that much easier to screw people.

The funny thing is that they couldn't have thought you would go through with the deal once you got there and the car wasn't close to what was described.

sorry to hear that happened to you, but it does seem like there is alot more "junk" then nice ones for sale on craigslist from what I have seen. Last one I looked at was a "$3500 car" ...lol wasnt a straight panel, bald tires, broken driverside seat (with the NOT included basketball holding it up)... regreded wasting my time!

Your right Mike, you did appologize before I even left the house lmao! 87 Coupe, dont go without a car hauler, it wont make it safely around the block! Hell, after we jumped it, the motor was ticking on every rocker arm it had, and the guy says, "I dont know what that sound is". I said, that there, is the sound of junk on it's way to being full bore garbage! Dont waste your time on this one fellas, hell theres some clean coupe rollers for a grand, you would be so far ahead to just go that route! I pray this GT is what the fella says it is, he's driving 40 mins to shorten up the drive for me. He also sent some good pics, and other than the color it looks pretty good to me. I just want a good running driving stock 5.0 fuelie car, not a show or race car. I just wanna be bangin gears in a stang again so i can feel like a stangbanger again damnit!!!!

LMAO, did she tell you about her tumor?!? She gets it removed this coming wednesday lol. Oh did she tell you the part about her husband meeting a woman on the dman internet and leaving her? Or about her 12 year old introvert son that wont talk but is awesome at putting parts in computers? Like I said, I dealt with her for a week, total ass hats right there! I freaking hate c/l but until something better comes along I have to deal with it. Its a good place but you have to be almost a prick to these people before they tell you whats what. I have done some long distance buying but didnt go without every pic and every detail I wanted. If you want a nice suv or family car its a no brainier. If your wanting a sports car of any kind good luck and be ready to punch someones dog.

I travel pretty frequently all across the country for work (Mt Vernon Il last night, columbia SC last week, Minneapolis Mn 3 wks ago, somerset PA next week) if anyone needs something checked out I can ussually swing by and check it before hand with minor flexibility.
