Since i'm pissed off already i might as well continue on my rants. I decided to check the current news on Cnn and WCPO when it dawned on me, not one news page is reporting anything about one of the most tragic days in American history. Today 69 years ago Japan bombed our Pacific fleet, and there is not one fucking report on it. My wifes grandfather Jack is a WWII vet that landed on Ohmaha beach, I have the most respect for him and his bravery and for all the men who fought for this country. Let us not forget

But hey, kids are doing iDose, Caffeine and alcohol don't mix, I'm sure there's some scandal, and we GOTTA know who has cellulite that we just won't believe.
It's a sad day, and even when the flags are ordered at half-staff it's amazing to see how many still fly full staff. I mean, Patriot day and people fly full staff all day long. That USED to be a reminder in cause you were caught up in the day to day grind that hey, you should take a moment out of your day to remember those who gave it all to make it possible to do what you do.
It is what it is, a moral decay. People stealing from their neighbors, stabbing each other over a football hitting a mercedes (heard that on the news today!), etc...

CNN and Fox news have both reported on the death of John Lennon who is just one man. How about reporting about the men and women that were lost in a single attack on our country.

Moral Decay is a great description of this whole situation... Sad, just sad...

I asked my wife, and she was right on. She knows, but she checks her calendar every day. She's not tied up in tech gadgets, she's a country girl and likes to do some things the old way, it's those little things that make me thankful we're together.

I have visited Pearl Harbor a couple of times. It bordered on a religious experience. I can't exen explain what it feels like to stand on the Arizona Monument looking down at the rusting hull with oil on the water still seeping from the wreck. The guide pointed at an opening between two mountains and said "The first wave of Japanese planes came from between those two peaks".
I wish every American could visit Pearl Harbor at least once in their life.

When we visited Pearl we went through the museum/visitor center. You should see the pictures there. They even have pictures taken FROM the Japanese planes during the attack. They had an old Japanese torpedo that didn't explode that was dug out of the mud at the bottom of the harbor. It is all rusty and on display in a wood and glass case
One of the coolest things I saw was a plaque out on the Arizona Monument dedicated to the US Navy submarine fleet. The subs started hunting down Japanese ships that day and by the end of the war they had hunted down and sunk every single ship that was in the fleet that attacked Pearl Harbor. Can you say "Payback"?

I was 11 when we went to Hawaii and saw the Arizona. I still remember being pissed at some people there that were laughing and being dis-respectful.

I've watched so many documentaries on Pearl Harbor...it's an amazing moment in our history. What impresses me so much is how soldiers from both sides have come together and embraced and forgiven each other in person.

I'm not sure what they have to forgive us for. I think at Pearl Harbor they asked for Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I guess...the ones i've seen, the soldiers basically made it out as a situation where both sides were just following orders. They've made it out like the pilots attacking us thought the base was empty and didn't know they were killing people. Who knows what's true after 69 years of political story editing.

I have a problem forgiving not only Pearl Harbor, but the Batan Death March and the butcher of Chinese civilians.

I just wish we still had that kind of fighting spirit. I would love to see George Patton unleashed in the Middle East.

Isn't it amazing what Political Correctness has brought us too? We now live in a world where a former 60's rock star' drug head',and agitator, whose deathh 30 years ago has a higher precedence than those who have protected and died protecting our country and fight for what liberty and freedom we have left, past present and future.
All PC aside: F&%K POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND JOHN LENNON! Rock legend or not I never cared for the person. I would not wish the man dead for my opinion of him but damn, the 30 year anniversary of his death need not take front page over an infamous historic event such as Pearl Harbor, or ANY US historical event for that matter.

God Speed home!!! Thank you even more for the sacrifice you are making physically, mentally, socially, and economically by volunteering to serve your/our country to maintain freedom for the millions upon millions who so very often take the freedoms they/we have for granted and have even become so complacent with in recent years.
Thanks equally as much to your family for their sacrifice as well (while you are away) and for supporting you and your efforts while abroad.
Merry Christmas and may you all come home soon VICTORIOUS!!!!!

Just wondering, why was my post deleted? or was it moved? If it had nothing to do with the rant, then I apologize for posting.

so many many perfect quotes in this thread. I can not even stand to watch any of the major news outlets anymore. It's like yeah, there's bad things happening in other countries, but well, quite frankly, shouldnt we be taking care of america first? The countless military that pay the ultimate price daily?
