2011 Street Car shoot-out

Anyone interested in doing a couple shoot-outs this coming year?

Since we had some complaining about TS, I was thinking run one at E20 and then another at TS. (If someone from up North wants to run at KK, they can organize that one)


For the people that showed up this year:

1. Any problems or complaints that need addressed?
2. What, if anything, needs to be done different?
3. Are you interested in throwing $10 in the pot and then winner and RU get some $$?


If we get enough interest, Ill get with some manufactuers and see if they can throw in some prizes of some sort.

Since this was called a street car shoutout correct, the only thing i would do is the 2 cars in the finals have to show current registration and insurrace that way it keeps it to real street cars and you dont have to check every one. Also i thought the last one went great. :bigthumb ALSO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE DOT TIRES. Last one people complained about not having street tires and i dont understand how it can br called a street car.

If you are referring to my post i know for a fact that there where peopl on slicks, like a black mustang that was in the finals. I also no the winner was on drag radials and had current tags and ins.

That black mustang had legal tags and insurance and got driven on the street 3 to 4 days a week. It took first place in the shoot out and 2nd place in the quick 16 but to be fair we had quick times on it but was told if we drove it on slick we could race it that way

Just a thought...

Once the 16 car field is created, use the car's e.t. as their dial in and run it as an open comp format. That makes the racing aspect more competitive. The fast qualifier would still have "the title" as being the fastest but he/she will have to work to win the shootout.

I agree, but last year the range was from high 9 second to low 12's.(maybe high 11's). Very little chance for a 11.90 car to beat a 9.70 car, unless someone breaks.

In in open comp format, it comes down to the tree and running the number consistently.

I went with the "Whatever tire you want" because I knew some people only had Slicks. With the recession going on, I didnt want to have someone out because they couldnt afford new tires.
Besides, how cool is it for the winner to say, "I beat your car running DOTs against your slicks!" :cool1:

The title says street car shootout, anyone that has a real street car that drives more than 2 or 3 miles from the house has street tires weather it has a tube chassie or not. I was not calling out anyone car because there was more than the 2 front running cars. I have never owned a set of slicks. Some of the so called street cars i have never see at local cars shows cruise nights stangbangerz meets and so on. Well like I said,the black car is a proven street car most everyone around here knows that. We did have a bad battery issue at the track because my cousin was to tight to buy a new one that day. But the black one made the fall cruise in,but he is banned from the site. That's why its not number1 on the DD. And as for the maroon one, well its made all the sbz, track days. It would've been number1 on the DD last year but they said his post count was to low. But this year he is number1 on the DD. I just wish I could keep his butt out of his woods buggy and keep him on the race track.

How can something be called a street car that gets drove all the time need a jump. Buy the way last time i checked it was not legal to drive on slicks. Also most cars that are driven on a normally basis have a fuel cell larger than 5 to 8 gallons.

I know when i got home last time getting the rubber of sucked, i will say the new line loc worked great. I all needed was a couple mph passes just to see where i was at. I was going to fix the trans this winter but know having rotator cuff operation.

Like I keep saying the black car had the optima red top went bad. We put it on a trickle charger the night before that and it pulled up on the trailer. But when we got to the meeting spot it was dead again. So it had to be jumped
