I've got some very yummy bacon that I bought from the Kroger Meat Market before Katy went into the hospital about 3 weeks ago before the girls were born. I really want a BLT but I don't know if the bacon is any good now. It's not the stuff that comes in the vacuum packages next to the bologna, I'm talking thick sliced good stuff that the butcher wraps in butcher paper. What do you guys think?

Should've bought tactical bacon and you wouldn't be facing this dilemma...

Visually is it ok? Smell ok? Cook it, sample the flavor...then proceed or discard. lol

If it was in the freezer it's def. ok...Fridge my wife thinks it would be fine....

P.S, I'd gladly sample a BLT to ensure quality if you'd like... hahaha

Just go buy some more. If it turns out to be bad I dont think you will like the end result. I dont play when it comes to pork or chicken.

Food poisoning makes you feel like straight hell from what I understand.

It's probably OK, but I wouldn't chance it. Go buy some fresh & build that BLT.

It really depends on how you stored it John. If you left it wrapped in the butcher paper and not in a sealed container, pitch it. Bacon fat has a tendancy to absorb nasty organisms and bacteria in a relatively short time when left unsealed.

Allthough porking itself is kinda fun :bigthumb

I wouldn't eat it...but then again any bacon around here doesn't last 24 hours before it gets devoured.

Because everyone knows bacon is the God of food. Bacon is like salt or pepper...it can be added to almost any food and the dish tastes better because bacon is there....burgers, steaks, even salad.

Hell, i bet if you ground up bacon and put it in your gas it might make your car faster.

Well I ended up heeding the advice and didn't cook up the bacon. I did end up with a market fresh BLT from Arby's so I guess I sort of got my fix. I got a kick out of some of the responses. It's nice to laugh and take my mind of my little ones in the NICU. They are doing really well so far, but it is stressful to say the least.
