I was searching the web today searching for engine swaps for a new V6 mustang to see what's out there. Allfordmustang.com came up with a 302 engine swap for a new v6. I decided to start reading and let me tell you....those people must not know anything about mustangs. Someone said they found a new GT donor car where the body has been removed so the frame and engine was left. Come on...seariously it's a ni-body car. They have no frame. Then he was going to weld the GT wheel wells on to the v6 so he could put "Monster" tires on it. It was just painful to read people saying ford came out with a stock 302 with 340 hp. Be a fan of the mustang is fine but if you know nothing about it then don't add you 2 cents.:screwy:

If you are looking to do a 3v swap into your v6 is isn't that hard. You are going to need, engine, trans, trans cross member, ecu, wiring harness. That would get you running then you could work on updating the rear axle to an 8.8". You could also work on upgrading to GT brakes but I would keep the v6 springs as they are EXACTLY what comes on the Cobra Jet cars. A lot of GT guys swap out to V6 springs anyway.

Aren't the new GT rear axles still 8.8's? I think my friend knows a guy who has one for 400 dollars. I want one for my sixxer anyway. not a big fan of the one wheel peeler.

GT axles are 8.8" yes, all v6 axles are 7.5" unless the 2011 switched over, which I am unaware of either way. You can get complete GT rear axles from newtakeoff.com for pretty reasonable prices in a variety of gear ratios. You can also snag one from a salvage yard too if you don't mind looking

This is why people are saying that Ford came out with a 5.0L 340 HP/310T block with 9.0 compression and GT40 heads and an E303 cam. It is an after market FRPP long block, PN: M-6007_X302E.

While this engine is not and was not ever available to my knowledge on any factory production Fox body, or SN95 body, it is available and is produced by FRPP for $6695.00.

My 0.02 -
For the price and headache to convert an S197 V6 it would be more cost effective to trade for a GT, build it on the stock block, or buy the 5.0 stroker Short Block from Brenspeed for $3299.00 and build on that. You would likely be money, HP, Torque, and a lot of time ahead of the game. Just my opinion. It's your time, and money. Happy New Year.
