I ended up with a 1986 notch a while ago. Finally made some progress so I figured I'd start a build thread. No Idea when it will be finished but should be a fun car.

Mini tubs in. getting a good ground was harder than i thought plus i'm a novice welder but i think that it went in ok. removal of god knows how many brackets and the trunk floor was made easier thanks to a friend / banger and a plasma:coo1:

That looks good. What brand of mini-tub kit did you go with? And how easy was it to do?
Trunk still close properly?
Also do your rear interior panels fit properly still?
that thing oughta be light! I see that you relieved the doors of some bracing ;)

The trunk still closes just fine. Interior pannels will need to be trimmed a good amount to fit back in the car. It was a team Z kit that I used. It took a long while to do, but I've never tried to do one before. Some of my cuts are not perfect, but all will be covered in carpet eventually and any small gaps can be filled in with seam seal. I think that a hatchback would be much easier to do. I'd think that if I did it again I would probably save 30-50% of the time I took.
The doors have been gutted as well. Front bumper has been removed as well but i might make some sort of brace to put in the bumper or take the easy route and use expanding foam.

Strange adjustable struts and a upr coil over kit went in with 98gt front spindles and brakes. Line lock and brake proportioning valve up in the fender

getting the rear suspension in was more than i expected. the team Z kit crosmember's tabs were too far apart so i had to remove two and put two new ones in after drilling some new holes. The last pic is how it sits now, but the rear mounts have about 2.5 inches of adjustablity up or down

Pic of the car as it now sits. Once the engine and hairdryer accessories go in I think that the stance will be quite nice.:cool1:

Man, I hope your short, that cage sits way forward. The seat will be real limited as far as adjustment. Not knocking tho, nice project!:bigthumb

Hopefully it works with my seats. The cage came with the car, hopefully if the seat does hit the bar i'll be able to lower it or get one to arch backwards.
The springs for the car are gone.
