Not really sure. Took out of an 89 2.3. Oddly it had a 140 MPH speedometer.

I'm putting a 2.3 in a 5.0 and it is nagging at me. Why put a 2.3 in a 5.0 except I already have both

They work fine but you have to change the pilot bearing because the input shaft tip is smaller. If you don't do that it will die quickly.

you can but you have to get a 6202 2rsj bearing and a 5.0 bell. i beat the shi* out of the last one i had in my old coupe for a couple years and never had any trouble

I got a buddy that runs nothing but the 2.3 T5s. He loves the gearing that they have compared to the V8 T5. They hold up just as good as a V8 T5 in my opinion. He has had his in his car over 2 years and has made around 40 passes on it with drag radials and running 12.90s so they will hold up. Plus they havent been beat on from day one! But the pilot bearing is a must.

Any of these should work when using a 2.3 T5 behind a 5.0:

Autozone: MOTORMITE 14672 (bushing)
Napa: PGB P62022ZJ (bearing)
Timkin BCA 202SS (bearing type)

My buddy Leo is the exact same way. He has put so many 2.3's behind 5.0s i've lost count, and he doesn't baby his cars. The key is to get the RIGHT pilot bearing and don't miss shifts (that's not good for any trans let alone a 2.3). For a mild bolt on 5.0 you can run a 2.3 trans just fine if you know how to shift. Anything that will break one will likely break the 5.0 version too.

one of the best shifting t5s ive even had was out of a 96 v6 car, tonyr owned the car before i did and we both abused the crap out of it and it never let either one of us down.
