So while im waiting for the funds to complete my build i decided to list the cobra on craigs list to just see if anyone bites....

This joker from KY drives here to the shop claiming to own a body shop... I tell him every detail about the body and paint. When he gets out of the car he has a dissapointed look on his face? I say "Here she is" he says.. damn dude u didnt tell me about the hail dammage? I have quick waxed the car twice and can tell all who read this it has no hail dammage. I said to him "hail dammage? what are u talking about. He then says look man ill give u 5500 and thats it. I shut the hood and walked away. as i was walking away he says so whats your bottm dollor. I tell him and he laughs and leavs....lol what a fing retard!!!

Don't sell anything on craigslist, it's not worth the hassle anymore. +1 for sending the guy on his way.

If it was priced right it would have sold by now. No?

I believe he does have it priced right, too many lowball mo fo's out there tryin to make a buck. The problem is just because your selling something, doesn't mean your hurting for cash like most of the jokes on CL. I got some lowball offers, basically people looking for a deal to turn around and make some cash off it. Hold on to the cobra man, someone will pick it up and realize what its worth.

The basic law of supply and demand is that a something is only worth what someone else will pay for it.

If it's priced right, it'll sell. If it's priced high, it'll sit around until a buyer comes along who is willing to pay the premium. If he wants to get a premium price, it should be advertised in venues that will command that...racingjunk, svtperformance.com, etc.

Of course, if it sits around for a few months without a buyer, than maybe it is overpriced. :)

I think you need to price it higher! Didnt you turn down what you are willing to take for it now when you had it listed for 9500 in the fall? Nobody wants to give somebody what they are asking for something and you have it listed at damn near your bottom dollar now. Jack that price back up so someone can feel like they are getting a deal when they Jew you down to 8g.......... OR keep the damn thing because Teal 93 Cobras are the coolest thing ever. Sometimes I look into my garage and jerk off

But still man, if your not forced to sell, then your not forced to let it go for what someone else wants to pay for it. I had my bike posted for almost 4 months, 2 years ago. I had it fairly priced and was firm on it. Eventually someone came along, saw that is was the cleanest damn bike for that year and gave me my asking price...without trying to jew me down. Good luck with the sale man, I would love to have it!

My great uncle has almost always gotten his asking price out of anything he has sold. Truly one of the shrewdest people I know. He has done so because he never sells something based on a need for money. He sells an item because he no longer has a need for it or is tired of owning it. He sets "his" price and that is the price. "You don't like the price don't buy it.", is his approach to selling. The item may sit around for 2 years waiting for the right buyer, but it isn't costing him a thing. Simply list the car at the price you want and state "firm". Be prepared to sit on it for a long time knowing you aren't losing money. Someone will eventually come along that simply, "has to have it".

Nice car btw.

Thats what I do lol, I had people low balling me on my 91 GT last year so bad it wasnt funny. I had it listed for like $4200odo, $3800 woulda taken it. That was including fresh drag springs, gears, wet kit, and all the accessories. I had folks drive from cbus, cinci, dayton, one guy from NKY. They would offer $2500, adn I'd shut the hood and get in it and smoke tires down the road "telling them to piss off lol". I ended up parting the car down to stock-ish trim, selling the goodies off and cashing in on almost 5k. Hated to do it, but had to help the family out.

I agree with what some of the others are saying, some guys are just looking to rip off others because IF its for sale, it must mean that person NEEDS the money. Thats not always TRUE! Good for you sending him home! It seems to me that there are too many scam artist and con men on craigslist anymore. Or just plan car flippers who are trying to take good (an in my opioin , fair deals) and convince sellers that they are over priced. Again, glad to see someone esle not putting up with these guys! otherwise GLWS

Yep, don't try to "jew" me on a price. If I set a price that is what I want out of it.

Get here and say you are $400 short, enjoy the drive back home empty handed.

On the flipside if I see something I like and the price is what I deem fair, I'll bite. If the price is out of line I won't bother.

Only people I'll argue prices over are car sales folk. I want your best cash offer. That number you give be better include all taxes and fees. When I submit an offer for $5000 OTD (out the door) and you accept it, it means I'm bringing cash to the table.

Don't try to jack me for documentation fees, environmental, or PMS fees because you ain't got laid for a week.

This guy called me yesterday about my 97 Cobra and was going off about how he waisted his time to drive up here from Kentucky to look at this pos teal cobra,I immediatley knew what he was talking about due to this thread he said he's not a tire kicker but the cobra was way over priced. Anyway he asked me if I would take $4500 for mine without even seeing the car. I just hung up on him and he called back twice and I never answered.

Don't get me wrong if I could $ wise I'd own it for what he wants. The covert to black interior and sit in my garage a stare at it and wipe it with a diaper and giggle a bit too. But since I decided the "smarter" way was to not just save up and buy but rather build something and spend twice as much ill go back to busting knuckles on a car I've never driven :(

yeah, but prices have came down, for 8k you can get a really nice stock 93 cobra, or a pretty modified one. I just think the car has been whoring the classifieds and SB for awhile now.
