Hey, I am kind of stuck in figuring out what my next mods will be with my car. I’m getting bored with it as it sits, but I don’t have a bunch of cash to drop on it. I am looking for something that will make a difference that I will notice when I drive it. I thought I would post up my current mods and see if anyone has any advice on where to go from here. I would love to something to free up some power because it’s a pig as it sits, but if it makes it handle better that’s good too.

The car is sort of down right now with the OD being out of the transmission though have a spare trans ready to go in once time permits.
91GT AOD, 94k miles, compression still good
4.10 gears, Dirty Dog 2600rpm converter (awaiting trans swap), Transgo shift kit (in current trans), FRPP 65mm t-body, 73mm C&L mass air meter, Stock airbox with K&N panel filter, Crane 1.7 rockers, Explorer intake, 1 5/8” Shorty headers, Off road x-pipe, 2 ½” Flowmasters, Under drive pulleys, Adjustable fuel pressure regulator (awaiting install), 190lph fuel pump, 5-lug swap with tri-bars.
My initial thoughts were lowering springs and sub-frame connectors, or a contour fan and some clean up parts, but I am still completely up in the air and at risk of becoming burned out on this car. Anyone have any thoughts?

To some extent the more converter you run the more fun the car will be. The right converter can take a stock car and turn it into a tire frying beast.

I was very impressed with how much better the pa performance valve body was than a "shift kit" that and a tv cable adjust with 4:10s and my convert would spin well into 3rd and was much fun. To me it looks like it is time for boost or cubic inches.
Has the car been tuned?

I prefer to use entire valvebodies as well. There are things that can be done to a valvebody that the average person cannot do with hand tools. Clickclickracing has the write ups to do everything you can imagine.

the car has not been tuned. I wouldnt mind going with moreconverter but thats out of my price range at the moment.
I saw the valve body mods on click click, but im not sure I'm comfortable tearing into one. but I do have two good spare aods, so all would not be lost if I screw up. so do valvebody mods make that big of difference?

For longevity the valvebody is everything. Stock aod valvebodies were terrible. Most important thing is to make sure the tv cable is right so you don't fry the trans.

well from what i saw mods listed, i would guess you have stock heads still, port the lower intake, and get some gt40p explorer heads blend the bowls and smooth out the exhuast ports and you will see some very noticeable gains.
a 3 k stall would be a bout right once money is available.
might want to look into a silverfox VB or a Lentech would be a suggestion.

Wow. I forgot about this thread! Thanks for the advice guys. Ive picked up a few parts to throw on, but it looks like if I can sell all my spare aod parts ( 2 spare trannys, nib cooler and converter) that I am going to be swapping in a T5. After that I'll put on the springs I bought and drive it. It's been sitting way way too long
