After purchasing the K member from Rich I decided to see what else of a diet I could put my car on. I would like to hear some opinions on installing a manual steering rack. This car will be mostly for street use with the occasional trip to the drag strip or autocross event.
Also...If I do install one do I need to buy any special brackets or pieces to run my belt? I plan on keeping the AC so can I use a belt designed for cars without AC?
Thanks

Unless you are going to be running skinnies all the time I would just stay with the power rack

I was always set on keeping the power steering until I got the chance to turn a few cars with flaming river racks. Even with 245's on the front, I didn't think it was that bad at all. I would suggest seeing if you can drive a car or feel the steering of a car that has a manual rack in it. I swapped to the FR rack the next day lol.

That is the brand I was looking at.
Anyone close to Middletown with a manual rack in a street car willing to let me drive it around the block?

Flaming River rack FTW! I use to have 17 x 8s on the front, not too bad at all on the street. Parking lots was a bit of a PITA, but nothing I lost sleep over.:bigthumb

Thanks, one of my first cars was an '83 Escort without PS. I did not think it was too bad but that was with 14" wheels...and almost 20 years ago. I will be sticking with the 16" ponies or might even go back to the original 15" 10 holes.
