O.K. I've been re-building a motor for about a month now.... yes re-building, as the previous owner blew it up on the way to Edgewater. I'm not going to post pics of the car yet without the previous owners permission. First off this is my dream Stang, everything that you could just about do to one it's been done, it was in Cavalcade 2007, has 2004 Cobra t-56, tubular K, coil overs on all 4, 4 wheel disc, subframe connectors, the engine bay has been filled, lots of powder coating by our own PC Kenny, 4:10's, full custom Autometer colbolt gauges. The car was totally stipped down by the previous owner to a bare shell painted inside and out, current it has about 3k miles. This was the first build of the previous owner and might I say he did one heck of a job! Thanks Buddy! He's also my best friend and never would have met if it wasnt for this site!!!!! Thanks Vin!!!!!!!

1989 GT
Cervini's Stalker front end
Cobra rear
Cobra Spoiler
18x9 FR500's
18x10 FR500's
FAST
Snow Meth
AL6
Pro Billet Dizzy
Interior is fairly stock with the addition of a billet dress up kit and the gauges. But it looks daum near new.

Now for the motor it's a stock block 347 Forged JE Dished pistons, H Beam Rods, Custom Flowtech blower cam, Eagle 347 4340 crank, Eldelbrock Vic Jr heads, 1.6's, Holley Systemax intake, C&L cold air, has 2003 cobra mass air 90mm with 42lb injectors, Trick flow girdle, moroso 7 qt pan.

The block is currently at a local machine shop (name with held as I don't want to hear any bad shit about them as it's driving me crazy as it is)

It will have a Novi 1000 by the end of summer I'm hoping to be in the 550's with the Novi and high 300's low 400's NA.

This is my first motor build and I don't know how you guys do it, I can't think of anything else day and night except getting this motor together.

Again I can't thank the previous owner enough.......

Sweet what did yours put down? Now that you've swapped tranny's you've got the coupe twin to my hatch lol

Cam specs are intake .598 lift and 230 duration exhaust .589 lift and 240 duration....

question for any of the tuners...... my previous combo wasnt set up for boost, so the cam specs have changed and the pistons are dished for boost, so i'm lowering my compression how much difference are these changes going to make regarding my tune? Leaving it NA for now.

It's really a damn shame Kenny didn't post more...this car is so badass, everyone on here should know it by now. It's one of those cars that has lived a lonely garage life and unless you're local you probably haven't seen it except for the couple times he got it out and brought it to a cruise in.

Whenever it's ok to post pics let me know, i have some that i took of it at the Cavalcade and a bunch that i've taken over the years. I have video too.

Pitbull1052
03-02-2011, 09:53 AM
Hell yea it is David, my brother was telling me about it for about a year before I even moved back there...... and I can tell you one thing it won't live a lonely garage life after I get it going again I'm going to drive the wheels off of it that's for sure.... I'd like to see those pics and vid D bsingleton1052@yahoo.com if you've got time...

yea that's where I've got everything right now they've been great to work with especially with this being my first machine shop visit.... they did the bore, clearenced it, balancing it today, assemble the short block too, I know we could do the short block but with all the high dollar shit going into this block I figure might be best to let the pros do it this time........ should be done by monday or tuesday if a few parts I'm still waiting on comes in next week i'm hoping to have it together by next weekend...... D you should see it with my FR's on it

Yeah....let me know how that goes...my money says you won't be able to turn

Kenny's 17s rubbed the Stalker nose like craaaaazy in full lock. You might have to raise it up some or something. I'm sure it looks sick though.

actually i'm not sure on how the tire sizes work but i think since I have 35's vs those 45's it should be the same height... but i'm not positive though... and I'm thinking eventually that stalker might have to go infavor of a Gt and finish out the Cobra ground effects........ but yea it looks pretty sweet doubt I'll see another one like it lol

85_SS_302_Coupe
03-04-2011, 09:34 AM
Naaaa...you might just have to trim the inside of the Cobra fender extensions. I think i mentioned that to Kenny once or ten times. It wasn't a problem until the tubular K went on and it widened out the track width.

Actually i think the problem with the K is that it pushes the wheels forward about an inch and that's why they rub more.

Pitbull1052
03-04-2011, 09:39 AM
once I get the motor in guess i'll have to see how bad they rubbed, they rubbed on my 91 only at full turn but it sat lower than the 89 does so I dunno I hope it dont rub too bad I just put new tires on it

Stangman
03-29-2011, 11:00 AM
What exactly are you talking about?

Pitbull1052
03-29-2011, 11:26 AM
it attached to the front of the cam and slings oil around so it doenst just lay there and leak I've read both that it's something they use to use but might not have to... seems like it mostly keeps your front cover from leaking

Pitbull1052
03-29-2011, 01:18 PM
It's a small stamped sheet metal piece that is shaped like a saucer with a hole large enough for the crank snout in the middle, it will also have aslot for the keywat. It goes in front of the lower timing gear with the lip facing forward to keep oil spray from hitting the seal directly. . left over from the early days, it "slings" the oil away from the seal so it doesn't overload the seal and is less likely to leak. I don't have his small block book, but I do have his 351C-460 book and on page22 there is an exploded view, probably similar to one in the SB book. If you look at the nose of the crank it is the part just ahead of the timing chain and just behind the front cover in the picture.

Thanks babe......... now if i could just figure out my starting grimlin i'd be g2g.... starting issue is hooked up the battery, went to hit the key starter was sticking on, pulled the positive, pulled the starter took it to AZ bad starter..... went back home hooked it back up...... same issue..... pulled the starter solenoid replaced it with a new on I already had same issue..... broke the replaced solenoid idk how but one of the big terminals just broke off in my hand not even tightening it much.... bought a new one same issue...... hit the key starter wants to stay engaged....

85_SS_302_Coupe
04-11-2011, 06:24 PM
Well if you've been through the starter and the solenoid i would think it has to be something with either the ignition or ignition switch, one or the other.

Pitbull1052
04-12-2011, 08:54 AM
me too who know's i've got the wizard on it....... i'm sure it's something simple that i'm missing or overlooking

5.0calypso93lx
04-12-2011, 09:41 AM
So the starter comes on as soon as the key is turned forward or only after you try and crank and then let the key fall back?
