The Cobra intake will bolt right up and is in my opinion a better intake as far as looks but I think inside wise they are about the same.

There are some very slight differences between the real gt40/cobra intakes and the explorer intake. Uncle Robin did dyno testing between the cobra and explorer intakes back when he ran factory stock in '00-03. Think he found that the cobra intake was worth just a little bit more than the explorer...and that was mainly do to the cobra lower ports being just a bit bigger than the explorer. But that is a mute point if you do some port matching/cleanup work on the lower.

not to long ago someone posted up a chart that listed just about every intake you can buy and I thought it said the GT40 explorer was slightly better.

by TMOSS on Corral.net:

"Flow variation would depend on the casting/assembly of each individual intake more than which one it is (Cobra/GT40/Explorer). I have a flowtest done by Victory Engines for Jeff Chambers that shows an Explorer flowing 209 cfm vs a GT40 206 cfm - both tests with the same lower! "

Also, I just found the flow chart comparison on google. Go to google (images) and type in: GT40 Explorer flow charts

the chart is the third or fourth image. It has a photo of all 3 intakes and flow numbers through the rpm range.
