Last November after running a string of 12.6xx's at Tristate a few valvetrain issues were addressed and taken care of via Dayton Performance. In the process improvements were made for a gain of 25 rwhp and 25 rwtq for a total of 260 rwhp and 320 rwhtq, this came courtesy of a 5-angle valve job, 1.7 roller rockers, a TFS valvetrain upgrade kit, and porting the headers at the collector. Also plugs, wires, cap/rotor were finally replaced after 10 years.
Fast forward to last Saturday: I made 4 passes and traction was terrible at about the 330' mark and the 43 mph gusts didn't help either. I had 2 clean passes of 12.77 @ 103.96 and 12.71 @ 104.44 needless to say I was pretty bummed out but I knew in good air with minimal wind I should pick up.
Fast forward to yesterday: I made 8 passes, and the very 1st pass was a 12.59 @ 108.31 with my personal best coming later in the day at 12.54 @ 106.9. The average 60' was 1.59 with an average et of 12.59 and an average mph of 107+ over 7 passes (the 8th and last pass I spun to a 12.69)
Overall I was very pleased as the 108+ mph (which I ran 3 times) clearly showed the new found power, it'll be fun to see how much quicker 'ole rocket can go! The 2 timeslips below show the quickest et and highest mph of the day respectively.
Peace :cool2:

Thanks Greg!, yeah man I'm stoked about the 60' almost as much as the et. There could be a few hundredths left in that 60' as this was only the 2nd T&T with the new set up.

Very nice James. Still running a 3.73 gear? With all the improvements to the valvetrain I think its time to jump up to a 4.10 or 4.30. 4.30 may be a bit much but thats what I ran in my 2V car with a hp peak at 5400. Course she was hanging her tounge out at 110 through the traps. I think with a 4.10 you could get into the 12.30's.

Thanks Ian!, yeah 3.73's are still in but sometime this year more than likely the set of 4.10 gears sitting in my garage :) will hopefully get me into the 12.30's. I make peak power at 4800 and I've considered 4.30's but more than likely I'll see what improvements the 4.10's give me and then go from there.

What are you rpms going thru the traps, I say you will run out of rpms if you go to 4.30s

Do you run tubes in them? I wonder if you would pickup any in your 60' running a set of tubes or switching to a set of the Hoosier 26x8.5 stiff wall slicks.

Those old 26x8.5s I ran on 10 holes had tubes in them. They hooked I couldn't leave hard enough.

Right now I go through at about 5200, if I were ever to go to 4.30's I'd run a set of 28"x9" slicks and I'd go through at about 5600. If I tried to run 26" slicks with 4.30's it'd put me in the traps at over 6000, probably a bit much unless I had a HCI package.

I ran several back to back passes and I was .01 hundredth slower in the 60' but I'd probably try them again if the opportunity came along.

Great times by the way James. Don't change a thing that car is way coolThanks Tim!, yeah I don't plan on changing to anything radical for a while, I couldn't be happier.

Nooooo! 4.10's, pull some weight and see how close you can get to the 11's:cool1:
I did it in my 266 rwhp 2V @ 2900 lbs. Go for it James.

if you ever do a HCI on this car it will be a monsterThat's definitely true but probably won't happen for a good while as I'm still having fun with the factory parts!

*just between me and you, Slow down, You're making me look bad*:D
Awesome times! for your power level, it's sixty footin' really nice...
I totally agree with Ian.. step up to some 4.10's.... If you ever make it down to edgewater, and I'm able to be there, You can use my slicks... they are hoosier stiffwalls...
Once again, Great Job!

Thanks Curt!, hey I promise to slow down a little bit ok?. Yeah man I'm happy with these preliminary times and overall performance of the car so far. Eventually I'll go to 4:10's but it may not be before I shed more weight and try to maximize this set up with 3.73's. Thanks for the offer, if you're there at Edgewater I'll definitely take you up on it as I'm curious to see if I still lose .01 hundredth with the stiff walls.
Peace :cool2:
