The 1990 LX V-8 5-speed car I'm working on has a computer code of A9P. The part # on it is 89ZF-12A650-C2A. The car used to be an Automatic but was converted to a 5-speed. When I converted by sons 94 GT AODE to a 5-speed I had to change the computer also. All my fox body mustangs were 5-speeds but if I recall right a automatic computer would work with a manual transmission but not vice-versa. Any one got any facts on this? Also does anyone know how to decifer the computer code listed?

The stick shift computer is an A9L for your info. I thought as far as swapping computer I thought it was the other way around, you had to rig the clutch safety switch shut or something...

The A9L was definitely the 5-speed computer...The nuetral safety switch is hooked up and working..I'm almost positive the automatic computer will work fine as the car runs good..Just wondering if anyone else has had any issues?

An A9P will work fine in a stick car. They actually were the hot ticket back in the days before chip tuning got so readily available. You will not have an issue.
