Is the clutch hooked up? If so have a buddy push the clutch pedal in while u push the trans in.

oh , the bellhousing is still bolted up to the motor too, i didnt mess with the clutch or anything when i pulled the tranny. it sucks how a simple task turns into a 2 hr ordeal...

You want the bellhousing to be bolted up to the motor. Make sure you keep the motor mounts loose and make sure the tranny is in neutral. Also make sure you have the throwout bearing and the clutch fork in the bellhousing as well. Sounds like the tranny isnt engaging all the way. You dont have to have the clutch cable hooked up to get the tranny in. I use a floor jack and get it up in the air pretty close to where it needs to be and then man handle it from there. Once you get it started in you should be able to rotatae the tranny round and round a little and it should pop in the rest of the way. If the tranny isnt in neutral I wish you luck. Did you use a disc alignment tool when you put the pressure plate and stuff back together. I generall get mine in first shot. On occassion I have to pull it back and rotate the input shaft a little and try it again and it will generally go in then.
