I know there's some lawn guys on here...what's a cheap but reliable push mower to look into? I don't have much grass to mow and i don't mind pushing, i just don't wanna be out in the middle of summer yanking on a pull cord for an hour on a POS that won't start. I'd like to spend as little as possible.

I bought one of those toro personal pace push mowers used last year. That thing works awesome and you can find them on craigslist used for a good price.

Does a briggs and straton engine mean anything anymore? I see Walmart has some random mowers with them.

alot of mowers have the briggs motors on them, you cant go wrong with a honda... not sure how cheap they are though.

I think the vtacccccccccc might be too much for your small yard. Unless you don't mind over shooting your turn

i've got an old 98 Lawn Boy with a 2 stroke that runs like a champ. It was my grandma's that she bought brand new, but it had sat for 5 years when i got it. i pulled the carb off and cleaned it out, put it back on with some new gas and it ran all last season like a champ. i've seen a few on craigslist for a decent price.:bigthumb

I have a self propelled mower, but sometimes I use a reel mower. If you have a small yard, get a reel mower. Nothing nicer than getting away with mowing the yard at 9pm when it was 90+ degrees that day...
I got my reel mower in a dinged up box at lowes for $50, but new they're like 90-130ish. Zero maintenance, no fuel cost....and no cord yanking. lol
Oh, and the best part is explaining to kids why my mower doesnt make any noise or have an engine. Boy how the times have changed.

I have a $300 Troy Built that I have had for 8 yrs, I prime it 4 times, and she starts on the first pull, every time. I think it's a 6.5 hp, if you bought a Honda for the same money, you would only get about a 5hp, and i want the extra hp. That was the deciding factor for me, there are times when I bog the mower ( if I let the grass grow a little too long), and it would only be worse with less power. My brother has a 9hp John Deere push mower, that kick's my mower's ass, but it was 3 times the cost.

My dad has always had toro's with briggs on it. always done a great job. if you are looking for a good used mower, the old man at the end of my street sells mowers that he repairs for a very cheap price and ive never heard of one coming back to him because it didnt work.

I found an ariens mower at home depot over the winter for 150. its 199 now but if you can find a movers coupon it takes 20% off. its got a Kohler motor and the larger rear wheels which i think helps with pushing. I havent used it but 3 times but its been a great mower. started on the first pull out of the box.

I'm actually getting ready to retire my old snapper and buy the Toro personal pace mower with the Honda engine. Not too pricey and I have heard good things about them.

This used to be my old Toro. Great mower for the money Starts runs and cuts grass great. Tim was looking for a push mower and I have a big yard and a Lawn tractor and big boy mower now so the Toro sat unused. If I had a use for it I would have never got rid of it. Pick a used one up for around a $100 and have fun
