98 Cobra

Well, I have been wanting to go a different route than most of the people with 96-98 cobras and plan on keeping her NA. This weekend my father and I installed a set of comp 262 cams (comp 106100) in it. I have got to say putting cams in a 32v is a major pain in the ass. Reinstalling the followers is a major pain in the ass. Well after bloody knuckles we got her all buttoned up on Sunday and started her up and it had the worst noise ever coming from the right valve cover. Frustrated as all hell we said that is enough for the day and we would try to figure out what it is on Monday. After busting out the stethoscope we noticed it was coming from the bung area on the valve cover. The nut on the intake cam was hitting the bung. After some modification everything is good. Not quit the lobby sound I was wanting the car still sounds good. Tomorrow we will be tackling a set of 4:30 gears and yanking out the 3.73's and going with Eibach Sportlines and removing the prokit for a little lower stance.

Man that is one good looking cobra congrats sounds like a fun build alot of people supercharge or turbo these should be fun with good tires and 430's you should definately see some 12s.

Those are the smallest na cams for the 4v.Ive heard them sound decent on a different centerline.

Did you get it tuned for the cams yet? It could need some idle work and the cams will sound better.

Pretty close to the smallest. I wanted some thing that had good driveability. I would have gone bigger but could not pass up the price I got on them. I am happy with the cams. I will get tuned in the future.

The 4.30's will do wonders for that car. The last one I sold was a 97 with 4.30's and it rocked. The one before that was a 96 with 4.56's and it was super stout. I dove that car all the way home from Maryland with 4.56's and it wasn't bad at all. You have a beautiful Cobra there man and bet it sounds killer now!!

Here is a video of the cams after install. Sounds alright, with the gears (4.30) and cams car pulls real nice. Very happy. Not the best video but the best I can do.
