I saw tom dawsons thread and it had a name in it that brought back some repressed stress. I thought I would share. This was over 10 years ago but it seems a few of you know the guy that screwed me over. At the end of my rant you will see I am not looking to start anything physical with him. Just after all these years a simple explination and an im sorry would work. If you know him let me know if you would be willing to give him my number and have him text me sometime. His name is bernie cox.
I had a pace car convertible corvette (c4) and it was not running very well. In fact it hardly ran down the road. He was a good friend and the car lot I was at did buisness with him and I sent him a lot of work. After me putting about 500 dollars into the car on this and that he told me to stop guessing at what was wrong and let him take it to his shop and get it fixed. I let him come get the car, we put it on his trailer and off it went. I talked to him every few days for a while and he was always busy so he didnt have much to say. Then he would call me and tell me he thinks he found a few problems and would get back to me. After a couple weeks I was told about a few things and I wanted to get him some money so he would feel more obligated to work on it. He didnt want money but I had an older ninja zx600 he wanted. We decided to do a trade, the bike for some work to the car. He was right out to get the bike and I thought I would get my car back soon. Well for the next few weeks he would tell me he was making great progress and was tracking dow parts. I drove all the way out to hammersville and talked to him and checked on the car. I was inside his building where we agreed it would stay. I didnt want it in the weather with it being a convertible and it was in decent shape. Now its important to say this wasnt my only car. It was a toy and I had a few toys so this taking a while wasnt that big of a deal. Well long story short hthe ability to contact him was getting harder and harder. With his shop being so far from me I couldnt go see him and find out what was up. After about a year from the time he picked it up it still wasnt ready. That is a long time but if you knew bernie COX you know he was great at bull shitting and he came off as a really great trustworthy guy. I go to his shop again and he is gone. For sale sign in the window and my corvette sitting in the grass with the keys in the center console. Looked under the hood and not one thing was touched. Not one bolt was turned. The way I gave it to him was the way it sat. He had my motorcycle and all I had was a car that was never even touched. I was sooooo pissed. I went further into hammersville and stopped at the first place I saw with a flatbed. Told them what happened and they said that that ass owed them money too. Said they were looking into buying his old property and were trying to get a title for the old vette he left sitting when he left. Now I never got a call saying I cant fix the car, Im moving out of this shop, I took your motorcycle you gave me to fix your car and your screwed. Not a hi, goodbye or a simple haa haa fuck you. So am I mad. Kind of. Am I going to march into where ever he is and start shit? No, I am 38 with a family and a little over weight. If the fight lasts for more than 5 minutes Im gonna pass out. But what I would like is an explination and an I fucking sorry. So if you know him and could give him that message thatd be great. Tell him I am sean murray and he had my 86 convertible red corvette and my ugly ninja 600.
So morral of this is I was stupid for being so patient and trusting things were getting done. He was a friend and we bull shitted a lot and he was a good guy it seemed. He got my motorcycle and some cash (no idea how much i gave him) for doing nothing.
By the way the guys I talked to with the flat bed towed my car from hammersville to mason for 60 bucks because they knew what kind of ass he was and felt sorry for me.. lol
