Just returned from a month in Australia! Was a blast! And I must say it is a BIG country! Spent time in Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Alice Springs and the outback. The outback was unbelievable and I think the best time I have ever had with a 4x4. Getting use to driving on the wrongside, took some getting use to (right hand drive cars) but was a great way to see the sights. Did Ayers rock , stayed at the resort for a few days (and let me say there is NOTHING else out there so a few days is more then enough time) and got to see some wild aussie camels! And the Great Barrier reef is just a wonderful place to see! Anyhow, dont want to go on forever, but I am glad to be back in the US!

Been there twice myself. All WA side opposite your visit. Perth is very nice and very much old school australia IAW people I have met that have been on both coasts.

The right side drive was very hard for me as well. Finally got the nerve to try it (back in 89) after two friends (locals there) and I had finished a fifth of Biccardi Light and a two liter of coke. Did it out in the middle of nowhere for ony about a mile just to say I did it. Sober or not I never could stop trying to get into the wrong side of the car to go places (when not driving). Had the same issue in England and Japan.

Glad you had a good time. Did you get to pet any Kangoaroos? That was the highlight of my second visit; going to to a petting zoo where I held a Wombat, and petted Kangaroos. Even sawa a Tas Devil. Talk about a mena looing rodent. WOW!

My wife and I were there in 2006 on a dive trip. We spent 5 days in Cairns and a week on a boat on the Great Barrier Reef. I wish we could have seen more while we were there. I am looking forward to the pictures.

Great place if you are single. They love american accents (at they did in 87 and 89 when I was there).

Just got to get used to 220V for everything in the homes and driving on the left side.

Yeah so do I. Be careful though. The charm of the sound of the female aussie accent can overpower the male eyesight, especially after a few local brews. Next thing you know you are waking up to find youself looking into the eyes of a Aussie Shiela who has her front tooth missing. LOL!!!!

Saw several older cars (right hand drive), but that would have been a cool one to see! Its well worth the long plane flight, you need to go :bigthumb
