Not personally, but I do know of a guy who has. Does it fit, of course. Good idea, JMOH, no.

If I was going through that much trouble to swap, you can go BBF for about the same money.

I think the only upside to a Cleveland is the small block motor mount points and bellhousing bolt pattern. Does anyone even make headers for this swap anymore?

There is plenty of upsides to a Cleveland. The heads are better than any other head Ford ever produced. The mains are smaller than the windsor, the block is stronger. Most "experts" claim that the Cleveland is the best performance engine that Ford ever produced. If you ever get a chance to look at an original 4v (4 barrell) closed chamber head....those are big block ports!

You can still get headers for the swap, Accufab, Kooks, and Hooker.

My next engine may be a stroked Cleveland...

This is from a thread on Hardcore 5.0...

"Ford's 351 Cleveland may very well be the greatest racing cylinder head ever installed on a production vehicle...

It was on the verge of taking over NHRA drag racing...

Pro-Stock Championship titles in 73, 74, 75, 77, 78, 80...

Jack Roush house cars were feared Comp-Eliminator competitors...

While sportsman racers were buying Roush/Cleveland engine parts and making an impact locally...

Chevrolet racers couldn't help but notice...and some switched...

Including the late/great John Lingenfelter...who won comp at the 77 Summernationals in his Cleveland powered monza...

Even the Hemi guys...who believe the sun rises and sets on their beloved Chrysler...felt the sting of the 351-Cleveland...

The thunder of complaints in NHRA corporate offices must have been unbearable...

As they issued for the first and only time...a weight penalty...for anyone running such a powerplant...

And changed the rules of Pro-Stock...to the 500 cubes we have today...

The king is dead...long live the king..."

What kind of power can the block handle?

The block is the weak spot in a cleveland. They are not as strong as a windsor. The thing people do now days is build a clevor. A winsdor block with cleveland heads. With the right heads it is a great combo.

Many years ago a guy from Cincy used to run one in the outlaw series at Ohio Valley. It was a 408 Clevor and ran real good. I remember it going high 5s low 6s in the 1/8th NA.

What part of the block is weaker? I thought because the crank sat "in" the block...it was stronger, not as much flexing. I have heard that the cylinder walls can be a little thin though.

Dave Rudisell was the guy Bill was talking about that car was CRAZY fast on a set of Cleavland heads. There is guy in the area that runs up at Killkare alot. I used to run with him in Index racing his 85 red mustang runs real good with a Cleavland heads

wow! what a lot of info. i was talking to james last night (5.0calypso93lx) about it. he had wondered the same thing. has anyone ever done this. only real reason i was curious was because a good friend of mine has a '73 351 with only 29,000 miles on the entire car itself. car has been sitting for at least 27 years just rotting away. so i asked him if he is going to get rid of the car and he said maybe, so i asked if i could buy the motor and he said if i get rid of the car you can have the motor. so like i said i thought i would ask, because you guys obviously no more than i do about this topic. thanks for the feedback, greatly appreciated.

I'm doing a mild build on a 351C for my F100. We'll see how that goes.

ok, i thought a clevor was what they call a 351 modified? right or wrong? a windsor block with cleveland heads.

That is wrong. The 351/400 modified were their own motors. They were basically a taller deck 351C motor with 429/460 bolt pattern on tranny.

i agree. it's good to know that no matter what someone wants to do to their own car someone can either give them advice or help them to do whatever that may be.
