I have already completed a 5 lug rear disc swap using a 95 GT as a donor for the axles and calipers. I decided i wanted to run a 10' wheel in the rear. I ordered up some North Racecar brackets and made a trip to the local salvage yard. Whipped out my 3lb BFH, and wah-lah, 335s under my 88 GT. Here are some pics. Got about 3/8"-1/2" clearance on the backside. Still have to clean up the inner fenders and recoat them.

Jus took out the sn95 axles i did have in there and put a set of 5 lug drum axles in. Picked up the North Racecar caliper relocation brackets. The brackets move the caliper inboard. Then beat the piss outta my inner fenders till they didnt rub anymore.

The rims are 18x10s in the rear, tire is a 335/30/18

Daum that sounds pretty easy I've got 18x10's too with 275's and they fit nicely but I didnt think there would be enough room for 315's net alone 335's...... looks good though.....

The first pics are with the sn95 axles in it. Everywhere I read and all the people I ask said it wouldnt work! I got the wheels and the tires were on em, so i figured what the hell, lets try. And to my surprise they fit with a lil BFH'n.

yea that's pretty sick I had my rims on another car that was lowered and with 275's if I put a feather in the back seat they'd rub slightly..... I don't know that I could beat the hell out of my inner fenders but sure seems a lot easier than a mini tub.... how much more beating you think you'd have to do to put an 11 on the rear?

I dont think theres much more to beat in, lol. Im not sure bout an 11, but if ya got one with a tire mounted i would try it out! Ya never know till ya try!

I forgot to add that the rear fender lips are rolled almost flush also.

Hell yea mine are rolled almost flush too..... I don't have one yet I'm not even sure I can find an 11 I like, I've got FR500's now and love them, not many other rims I like better that arent out of this world expensive. Might have to see what Mr. Doe would charge to widen mine if he even would take the project on.....

Damnnn, what brand tires are you running? I know some brands run thinner than others. Either way, thats A LOT of tire for no mini tub. I cant believe they tuck in like they do. Could you snap a pic from the front of the rears kinda like this pic?

Chris why don't you just stop jacking around and get a set of FR's lol Even your example here has them lol

mustangr you should have no problems running 18's I've had mine on two different cars with two totally different set ups and have had no issues at all.....

I will take some more pics today. The tire is a toyo proxes. I prolly beat the inner fenders back about a 1/2-3/4". It doesnt take very long to get them beat back. It looks pretty violent when you are beatin them in though, lol. I jus kept working back and forth little bits at a time.

Thats not a bad pic, of course though Id still like to see some more. lol I looked up the tires and they say the smallest recommended wheel for the 335's is a 11.5" with a 12" being the best being that the tire is 13.5" wide. They dont look like they are bulging too much though. :bigthumb

So whats the setup thatll be turnin those meats over?

jeager88

The actual measured width on the 18x10 rim with 40 psi is 12 5/8". It has about 1-1 1/2" bulge. In person it looks like 18" bigs n skinnys, lol.
Im jus runnin a 302 with gt40p heads, 76mm c&l, 70mm tb, e-cam, 1.6 roller rockers, cobra intake, 24lb injectors, main cap girdle, 7qt canton pan, under drives, tko 500, aluminum driveshaft, 3:73s. The suspension is all aftermarket. PA racing k-member and a arms, koni yellows, steeda springs, factory 5 control arms, hotchkis caster camber plates, subframe connectors with the seat brace, battle boxes, and I seam welded it front to back. I was wanting to put a turbo on this summer but my funds are a lil short at the moment so i will wait till this winter. Its not no dyno monster but it should be fun to drive!
