2000 Ford Escort ZX2
-5 speed
-Black with tan interior
-Loaded. Power everything, locks with keyless entry, windows, sunroof, etc
-Rear spoiler
-37 MPG!!!
-217k miles and counting

The good:
-Mechanically the car has zero issues. Doesn't burn or leak a drop of anything
-Everything on the car works except for ac!
-Newer clutch. Trans shifts great.
-Brand new matching Toyo tires at all four corners
-Fresh alignment done last month
-New spark plugs last month
-6 disc changer in trunk, works great
-Cruise works perfectly
-Car was my daily driver for the past several months including two roadtrips one of which was to hilton head island, south carolina. Made it down and back with zero issues whatsoever. Averaged 37 mpg with the cruise set on 69.
-ALL stock
-Stereo is extremely impressive for a stock stereo system
-Engine was supposedly replaced at one point with an 80k mile unit but do not have any documentation to conmfirm that.
-E brake does work

The bad:
-A/C does not work. Needs recharged
-suspension needs gone through. Could use brakes, ball joints (bolt in with two bolts, not press in), shocks and struts and probably some bushings.
-Paint is very faded and has typicaly dents and dings
-Windshield has a circular crack towards to the behind the mirror
-Previous owner painted the brake drums blue
-Interior could use a good cleaning
-Slave cylinder needs adjusted as the pedal lets off close to floor. I've gotten used to it and have just learned to drive it as it is.

Please call me at 513-315-6583 with any questions. I am located in New Richmond, Ohio. I will have pics up asap.

I have it on craiglist for $1900, $1600 for a banger.

Are you sure the AC needs recharged? I thought mine needed recharged this summer but it was actually the CCRM, it is the black box under the air filter can, a realy in there has a cold solder on one of the legs, you can get the relay at radio shack. Might not be the problem with yours though, I am just letting you know incase you did not already know.

Anyone looking for a good gas mileage car, I drive one to work everyday and they do get awesome mileage, and mine has 196,000 miles on it.

I thought mine needed charged and the two wires coming off the compressor had a bare spot on them and was touching. Had a blown fuse. Fixed that and the fuse and cold ac again.

I didn't push the sale as much because I traded it to my Dad. He's got too many cars right now and decided instead of driving this back and forth to work he'd rather just drive his 12mpg truck  So this is now back up for sale.

I'd go back and update the original post, but can't. The sway in the front suspension has been fixed. He had a new tie rod installed and some other parts I can't remember off the top of my head. I'll have to ask him if he ever got the A/C fixed. Don't think he did though. I'll let him know the suggestions you guys gave.

I would still not hesitate to hop in this car and drive it anywhere. It runs and drives great and gets killer gas mileage. Would make a perfect beater and the tires are newer so this thing will do great in the snow.

Well just spoke to my Dad and he'd like to get $2,000 for it. He actually did more than I thought to it while he's had it. It has new tie rods, ball joints and brakes.
