I really am digging the kimber ultra covert, but it's awful pricey.

I just got done checking out Taurus Judge / Public defender.

It'd be pricey for target shooting, but seems liked it be great for home defense.

Anyone rocking one of these

If you are wanting something for home defense go with a simple pump shotgun.

The judge is a bit of a novelty gun in my opinion. Not a bad idea for snakes but I just load my .38 with shotshells for the snakes since it's cheaper than buying a new gun.

Don't have a Kimber ultra but would love one,,,,, way to pricey, came close to a used one in 9mm but couldn't make my self pay the price. Wish now that I had.:( Still watching.

Edit: my Kimber .45 is the best shooting gun I own..

I have a Springfield loaded model 1911 which I thought was a hell of a bargain compared to Kimbers. The Kimbers are nice but to me they aren't nice enough to justify added price.

My uncle has a Judge and I shot it. It was pretty cool lets just say in terms of home defense the person breaking in will not be leaving voluntarily lol

I heard that Kimber's quality has fallen since they were purchased, I'm not sure, but some of the guys I know that really know guns, have no interest in owning one. If your interested in a custom/cool looking gun there are many companies that do custom work, even custom coatings, digital camo, any color you can think of. The Kimber's do look nice, but so do Sig 1911's, so does my Springfield loaded, it's not hard to find a nice 1911. Even if you do get a Kimber, it's a 1911, whatever issue that it may have can be fixed. Good luck.

Love my Kimber, never jammed once. Keep the feed ramp clean and use good quality mags youll be fine. My next one will be the new Ruger 1911. For the price its a no brainer. Still want to add a glock .40 to my collection also. The Tauras judge is probably one of the ugliest guns I have ever seen.

You haven't seen ugly until you have seen a Chippa Rhino.

They do feel pretty good in the hand and the idea behind the design seems pretty solid.

Yes that is ugly as hell. But without shooting one Id say the design should have some merit. Really outside the box with that line of guns.

The one I handled at Olde English felt great in my hand and the sights were fantastic. They're not cheap though. Oh yeah, they're also located in Dayton.

Terry about three months ago i bought the Judge Public Defender. $575.00. We were shooting .410 and had some misfires. First with one type of ammo, so we changed ammo and still misfires. Out of twenty rounds i think we have eight misfires. Took it back they shipped it back to TAURUS took about three weeks to get it back and when i did i checked the service slip and it stated the cylinder was out of alignment. This will make me think twice next time im looking at buying a TAURUS. But i have to say after i got it back it works amazing. Your right deff a great HOME DEFENSE GUN. But why not a remington 870, or the mossberg 500. with pistol grip. Just the sound a shotgun makes will make the intruder think. OH SHIT:evilflip:

I've been told by multiple people working at multiple gun shops that they wouldn't trust a Taurus revolver for personal defense but that very reason. They all say they stand behind their products but it may take multiple trips back to Taurus to get the gun 100% correct.

I bought an Ultra Carry II in 45, broke it in properly with the 300 rounds then complete dis assemble cleaning and only used Wilson combat mags, jammed every 6th round during the break in and got worse from there. Sent it in and it fed one mag of Hornady TAP ammo and then never feed another round correctly after that. I sold it back to Kimber and bought my EMP and it hasnt skipped a beat.

That would be an interesting combo, sounds perfect for self defense. I always liked my 410 better thana 12 gauge, well except for the price of the ammo.

i dont know about you but when i bought a gun for over $500 they should make sure it works before it ever leaves the manf. just my thought. and yes they did fix it works great now it shouldnt have never not worked great. BEEF just buy an 870 with mag tube extension pistol grip and blow there heads off if they come in the house.

made a decision,

walked into hunters den, asked about pricing on the governor, then asked what 1911's they had.

he mentioned a used kimber!!! i got excited, but it was an all black, with the long barrel.

i told him i really wanted the ultra covert ii, with the real small barrel, he said we have this one!

had a pro tle rl ii stainless 2005 with the mid size barrel.

i couldn't resist. especially when he offered to throw in the laser

Congrats..
I want one....... I carried a full size Kimber while I worked on my MP9c , and it wasn't bad. Decided it was to nice a gun to carry. Problem if I had to use it and the police took it I would be sad, I know you can get them back but sometimes it takes months...
The MP9 I could replace easily. Besides the trigger is a little touchy on my Kimber :D.

Someday I will have one... I was thinking 9mm though.

The Judge is not a good gun for defense at all, unless you are shooting .45Colt out of it. It's a gimmick. Buy a real shotgun, or a real handgun for denfense, not that pile of marketing. Same goes for the S&W Governer. They sell because of the "wow, my gun is bigger than yours factor"

Rock Island Armory for a 1911, I love mine, and everyone else I know with one loves theirs. XD45 is a good choice as well. If your looking for the BEST home defense gun, Remington has been making it for years. Get 20 year old 870 Wingmaster and put a 18.5" barrel on it.

The judge ls a amazing self defense weapon with the new ammo out for it its a hell of a man stopper. Now they got a new one called the raging judge 45/410 and 454 casull. We get a lot of people coming through are ccw class with the judge because its versatile. I'm all for an 870 but good luck pulling that out when your getting car jacked or going clearing your home. For those that's been in a gun fight you miss a lot and you think you only fired a few rounds but u dumped the mag. The only problem I have with the judge is its slower to reload but if I have to shoot more then 5 rounds I'm in a gun fight and if its at home I'm tactical retreating to the gun safe and getting a select fire ar15 with a beta mag and a red dot.

thats what i was going to say,

how can something that fires a shot gun shell not good for self defense, pop 1 or 2 .410s out then finish with a few 45's!

My house is the worse to break in everyone knows how to use a gun and my step dad and I have combat experience and mom is looking at deploying to afghan. And the lil kids know how to operate there 22 and 410 over under rifle. I got a Place to shoot out here if u ever need to use it BTW.

ok so im dead asleep and wake up to soemone in my home look up to statistics but it takes longer to pull a shot gun up and to your shoulder than it does to reach over pull out a pistol and just aim, and as far as shooting a 410 out of the pistol why do people like sawed off shotguns because a shorter barrel means a wider spread. and i dont just use any 410 ammo. meet the the PDX1 410.
