ok so check engine light comes on when slowing down or at ideling.
code 63 low TPS voltage.

I Tapped into the green wire (1990 gt) and was reading .27 volts.

On http://www.muscularmustangs.com/tps.php it is saying to adjust it to .98-.99 volts. never past 1.0 volts.

I turned mine as far as it can go and it only goes up to .27 volts. Its like it needs to do a 180 degree rotation.

I took the screws all the was out of the top and held the sensor down with my hand turning it past the point of which it could go before. Now no matter where it is it reads .02-.03 volts!

Did I fry my TPS sensor? do I need to reset the computer by disconecting the battery? I know this should have taken only a few minutes but .27 is all I got and now .03....

any info would be great! I just replaced the TFI moduel and that solved 99% of the problems.

but any info on the TPS would be amazing. thanks

It could be the TPS sensor is bad. It should be between .80 and 1.00 volts with the key on, engine off.
When you open the throttle does the voltage increase ??

Don't believe the myth of it needing to be .98-.99 volts with key on, engine off. I think the Ford spec even gives a wider range, something like .60-1.00 volts.

I have not tried that. I am sure it does go up.

Check engine light comes on when deaccelerating or ideling.

When I goose it CEL goes off and runs super strong.

It just wants to die almost when you are ideling.

When my tps went bad it would accelerate perfect. The problem was when I was trying to maintain speed the car would surge.... bad. At lower speeds it looked like I didnt know how to drive a stick. I remember the tps being easy to replace and it didnt cost much for the part either.
