Buddy of mine is moving and selling some of his stuff,

he has what he is calling a limited edition field & stream edition remington 1100 12 gauge semi automic

he said the gun has less than 20 rounds though it,

locking case, tools, all books,

wants $700 for it.

i'm wanting to add a shotgun to the stable, didn't know if that was a good deal or not.

i'm seeing em new for $850's or so, but i can't find anything on a 'limited edition'

Beef I took a look around just to see what I could find and I can't find a 12 gauge version of the Field and Stream but i did find a few 20 gauges and they are going for over 1000..... this might help you identify it...... the only special editions in 12 gauge i could find were the Sam Walton Edition and the double anniversary edition...... let us know what you find out could be a pretty rare gun and of course being a semi auto would be sweet to have

Ive got an 1100. Prone to jamming and slow cycling. I dont like it. They make a fantastic 870 that I will never get rid of,just not a fan of the 1100 auto.

It looks like that has some very nice furniture on it and its not been shot alot. Is this some thing your going to shoot,or hang above the fire place and stare at?

my buddy up there said it's worth it, but roy has trouble moving the more expensive shot guns.

they want stuff they think they can turn around rather quickly

just like the car business. we take trades in all the time that are worth x amount of $$, but we just don't sell them, so we call people who move more of that particular item for a buy bid.

we might only want to put $20,000 in a certain bmw, but we might have a wholesaler who's willing to give 22 to 25k, so we dump it right away

Wow, this thread kinda sucks...you can't sell, it's not fair that only you can sell, you Fucking your buddy. LEARN TO READ PEOPLE.

Anyway...You can find 1100's used now for around $350, but not with that furniture. I have an 1100 12 ga and it has been flawless, my dad gave it to me and he had it for 20-25 years prior, and it was flawless then. I'm not saying they can't ever have problems, but I like and trust them.

It's a very nice shotgun and imho, $6-700 would be fair, good luck

Beef, I have 5 1100's, they were an awesome gun. Little history, Remington made the 1100 for years and years, probably around 20-30 years. care what you do to them. Some Remington brought the 1100 back out because they couldn't make a semi-auto shotgun worth anything. The newer 1100's are not as well as the old ones. I have a limited edition 12ga 1100 that is well over 3 grand. I have shot a newer model, they don't shot the same. But 600 for that gun is a good deal.

Now when you or if you do buy it, take it to Elk Creek Hunt Club in Owenton and try it out. They have an awesome clay pidgeon shot set up down there. Then when you are done shooting, you can stop at their winery and take some wine home for the other half!

Will this be for home defense, hunting,or clay shooting?

both,

its one of those things, i know there are guns that can be had cheaper, and some say, you don't want to go shooting with such a nice looking gun, but it's just like cars, if i'm doing it, i wanna look good doing it, lol

600 or 700 would be a good deal. But the more you shoot it, the more you hurt the value. With the gold inlay, and that nice furniture, I would use it as a display piece. Find a nice 870 or a mossberg 500 for a shooter.

Ive got an 870 with more than 1 million rounds through it,no joke. And it still shoots great. Clean, lube and shoot.

Thats why I said that 1100 has nice furniture on it,that wood gets beat up no matter how carefull you are.

Defense home shotgun should be a pump,no matter what. Hunting with that nice wood would turn it into shit. And I can think of a few other different shotguns for clay shooting.

The Field and Stream is not really worth the markup if you ask me. 1100s are a dime a dozen and can be had in great shape for $400 or so. I have a nice engraved edition 1100 myself though the furniture is not as nice.

And that's not going to be a good home defense gun by any means.
Home defense equals close quarters. A long barrel is not your friend in that situation. Try having to make a quick 180 in a hallway lugging that thing. Not going to happen

I actually have an old school 1100 with a 24" barrel! Like I said, old school 1100's are worth their money. The new ones suck! I have shot a few of them and don't like them. Two of my 1100's came from All about sports, the stores that were with the old Vanludens stores if that shows how old they are.
