Just trying to get a response. I have a 93 roller 5.0 that I was going to stick an 89 2.3 in. I put the wiring harness and computer from the 89 in it. It looks to me like you can't mix the wiring. The computer is wired completely different. I would love to get a wireing harness from a 93 4 banger with a manual transmission or better yet get a 5.0 for a couple hudred and put that in. Any suggestions or motor or a wiring harness.

Pretty sure you gotta have the same year wiring from the dash forward. I know I have to swap all the wiring from my 91 to my 90 for it to work. Good luck, sure someone on here can help you out!

yeah u pretty much have to have a matching harness but also he sain 89 motor but correct me if i am wrong isnt a 89 2.3 a 4 plug motor witha distributor and a 93 a 8 plug with crank sensor

Put a V8 in it and use the 2.3 for a mail box!!!! You should be able to find a stock 302 for a couple hundred..

FYI Marshall auto parts in Circleville oh has a few complete explorer motors. They have gt40 and gt40 available $299. Just thought i would throw it out there.

Marshalls has tons of stuff and cheap, just remember anything they tell you on the phone is a lie, no parts are ever pulled until you are standing there waiting and if you expect what they told you to be true they will laugh at you in front of everyone.
I still buy from marshalls however unless it is worth having shipped to you do not buy it. If you have a couple days that sitting around there won't bother you go ahead. I'll never go there again. Been twice and from now on they ship stuff to me. I bought a steering column from them for a s-10. it was good and only $75. Took 7 weeks of calling them 1-2 times a week to actually get.

Me and Steves LX went up there for a low mileage gt40p motor, threw it in his wifes hatchback, then red coupe, and ran mid 12's bone stock, never pulled the heads

I called and they do have one for 350 which isn't bad. They said I would need the starter-distributer and a list of stuff off my old motor. When I told them I didn't have an old motor he seemed to want to get rid of me. I am still considering it though. I would like to get one closer if possible. I'm in Indiana.
