Need everybodys opinion on aftermarket blocks, Im not going to be doing this anytime soon, im just the type of person that likes to prepare ahead of time, will probably do a 347 stroker or do a 351w and stroke it to a 427. either combo will have twin turbos on it. What would be the better aftermarket block to use that will cause less headaches when putting together and which will make the most power. A Dart block or the Boss 302 block ? Ive heard of one or the other of these blocks having clearance issues with aftermarket heads not clearing and what not. Need opinions!

You can still find R-blocks. People go 1500 hp on these
I would take a Dart over the Boss block. The Boss block has shorter skirts at the bottom of the cylinder wall, which doesn't support the piston as much at the bottom of the stroke.

I would say go with a Dart SHP or an Iron Eagle Block. No problems bolting on the heads or anything and will handle all the power you want to throw at it.

Ask a few others about the boss block mike from Dayton performance runs a few of them ford is getting away from the 347 i just read the hot new one is a 363 I just watched one put down 550 na on the new boss 351 block. I just put a 347 together and I'll prolly see what's up with that 363 next year or so but there's a few on here rockn 427's too I use to think I had to had some huge cube motor and it really depends on what u want it to do and how ue gonna use it track or street

There's actually a good read on sbftech on this very subject. Duane Busch did a Boss blocked 347 and couldnt keep it together due to the short cylinder walls. Using a 5.4" rod. The 5.315" rod 347 is worse since the wrist pin is lower. Also have seen a 331 in a boss block break a piston skirt due to a lack of support at the bottom of the stroke caused by the lack of cylinder wall length.
Moral... you get what you pay for. And Darts SHP block is worth every penny.

Dart is the way to go in my opinion.

What about engine size, want to make 1000hp next time around, whats going to be the smartest choice, 347 stroker or am i going to have to go higher?

Use the Dart block and build either a 427 or 434, tons of cubic inch and will easily handle the power adder of your choice. I am currently building the 434W using Edelbrock heads, solid roller cam and should make about 700-750HP N/A, then I will top it off with something special.
dave fiscus just made 1178hp at the tire with a little 274 ci v-6. you can make 1000hp on whatever. just depends on boost. alot easier on a 427. dart is the only way to go. did you hit the lottery or something? no matter what make sure it has a good cooling system. radiator ect...

Anything can make 1000 HP on race fuel. Pump gas though? Gonna need displacement.

408's are tried and true. I wouldn't go with anymore cubes than 418 unless I went with a big bore block. .02

Go DART or go home!!! Dart blocks are alot thicker in the bores and BOSS blocks use a different set of head studs!

got a stock block right now, it has forged pistons but its only a 306 so its never going to make any serious power, even with the 76mm turbo pushing it. plans are to sell the car and in a couple of years or so start a new project. This time around im going to do it right.

what do you mean its only a 306 so its never going to make serious power? stock block is the only thing preventing that. hell Jimssvt made 1000+ with a little 28x cu in motor with an 88mm. id say spend those next "couple years" doing alot of research

I just saw a dyno sheet yesterday to a stock bore stock head gt40p motor that made over 500 with just a single turbo.......
