86 with dump setup

I have an 86 with trush dump setup. 2-1/2" with 3" elbow turn down. I can smell exhuast when car is running in the car. Is this typical of a setup like this? Or do you think I have an exhuast leak somewhere? I have noticed that the shifter does not have the boot that attaches to the body(the rubber one). Any thoughts? By the way this setup with e cam sounds nasty.

You will catch that smell from time to time, but I bet that boot is letting more in than normal. Mines ripped too, I have it rigged up with another boot under it for the time being. I love dumps too!

Check the hatch seal as well. If the hatch seal is bad it can enter the car there as well

If its dumped under the car,get used to it. I ran dumps for years and finally got a set of knockoff flowbasterd mufflers and nice 2.5 inch tailpipes and love it.
