I'll go ahead and start my own rant since I completely jacked someone's fs thread.
What happened to the good ole days of making people decent offers on their stuff? Why is everyone out to cut each others throat? Its absolute bullshit that you can't post anything up for sale without someone offering you some bullshit amount for your stuff. Its our own fault because we would all just rather be polite instead of just tearing into the lowballing assholes like we should. Case in point. I had a "nice" not perfect coupe for sale that made good power and would've easily ran high 10s on bottle. I don't have to sell the car but I wanted to get back into a closer to stock fuel injected gt that i could drive more often. Enter member x he had a nice gt that i was interested in but it sold. So what does he do. He offers me another gt that was bone stock less exhaust. I say sure I was on my way to buy that car before you got it anyways. We agreed on the cash difference I would take to make the deal happen. Later on that day he txts me again and asks what my bottom dollar cash would be I reply with. 5500. I started out asking 7500$ for the coupe. He replys with I'll give you 3500 for it. Not I'd like to see it or I'd like to look it over good and then I'll make u a fair offer he just assumes I'm in desperate need of cash to go get a crackrock and offers me less than 1/2 my original asking price for the car without even seeing it. My question is to you where can anyone get a blk/blk coupe with newer paint, prostars, and a tremec that will run high 10s on nitrous for 3500$. So I'd like to say this fuck you member x take your 3500 and stick it up your cheap ass! You may think I'm some dumbfuck you can rip off but I'm not that guy. And if you have anything smart to say or wanna act bad my address is 617 s market St waverly Ohio. I've had it with assholes like you that make it hard for people like me Or other good members on this board to get a decent price for anything. End of rant.

Getting lowballed is gonna happen when you sell something, simply tell them no then hang up then get on with your day. Now if he made you an offer of another car and you had an agreement thats allot different...thats shitty.

Personally I try to get everything as cheap as possible and iv made a few deals by cutting the persons offer in half. Depending on what it is ill take a stab at getting it cheaper. But as for fellow mustang enthusiast I try not to Jew them so much. I look at as business and try not to take it personal. It's about buying low and selling it high. And yes parts of my family are Jews..lol so I gess its to be expected.

I think at the end if you put bottom dollar or no lowballing that should do the trick. I assume things are priced high to see if they can get it. I know thats what I do. If I see a bottom dollar at the end I figure it's the bottom dollar and thats what they mean

I think people should invest in Sandgina creme. It helps to get the sand out of those sensitive areas.

Believe or not, the people on this site at onetime looked afte eachotherr and try to make you a fair deal.... They need to take everyone that has joined after 09 and delete them..

I just tell them they are obviously dreaming and can not afford my car. I then suggest they lower their expectations for the money they are looking to spend....I get some strange responses with that.

i have a low 9 second coupe for sale that is one of the nicest coupes ive seen for 12k turn key reef blue black interior. before i start parting it out..
damn thats low. I will usually offer 5000 or 4900 for something listed at 5500. You can usually see what the seller is going for when they price it. 1200 usually means 1000 so I offer 900. You get it. Just a percentage thing. If I really want it I will start low and usually meet in the middle somewhere. 9 times out of 10 I dont really care if I get it or not so I am not desperate to buy. I dont get despirate to sell either. I dont think getting rid of every one before 09 is a good idea either. If your buying from someone or want to know who they are just look at their older posts. I have chosen to not deal with people simply based on their ass hat attitudes in the past threads they have commented on. I agree, this USED to be a place where I could trust the seller and we took care of eachother. I still think that happens for the most part but some are just ass holes trying to push their shit around. There are a few people I talk to before i make any major trades or purchases and I trust them. blown96cobra (josh) is one of them. He has been there for me many times.

I do make a reasonable offer, but not an insulting one. I sold my nitrous car 2 years ago, and had so many lowball me. I had one guy drive from around the cincy area (not from on here) and lowball the shit out of me. I told him "sorry you wasted your drive". I am honest and usually make stuff sound worse than it is. Then they are delightly surprised when they actually see it. Otherwise step on. I mean cmon, times are tough, but they are tough for the seller just as it is for the buyer...

for starters (not talking about OP) a lot of people think their poop is worth gold. Then because something NEW costs $450, doesnt mean its worth $400 when you had it on your car for a few months but its "like new". I like to pay what I THINK I CAN SELL IT for.

BINGO! :cool1: I've been buying and selling RC stuff locally and some people are awfully proud of what they have, until you point out that what their asking is above what people can pay for it retail.

Exactly.
Basic economics states that something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. If you want $7500 for your coupe, but no one offers you more than $3500...guess what, your coupe is worth $3500 at this particular point in time.
Of course, you can wait for the right buyer, but you may find yourself waiting a long time.

I disagree Gene, I understand where your coming from, and fully understand supply and demand as well. But there are some instances where people are just plain idiots, and only make insulting offers at best. I mean cmon, everyone dreams of owning a show quality car for $3k, but the odds are it will never happen. Kudos to the guy that stumbles across the right deal, lowballs the hell out of the seller, and closes the deal. But that isint a reality for the majority of us. Atleast not for me lol. Hell the guy I got the short bus from wanted $3500 for it, and it it's condition at that time, it wasnt worth $1500. I dont feel it's worth $3500 now, after all my foxes I've done, which made it twice the car even. But since it is the one and only short bus, it's priceless imho lol...

Sure, but if I read the OP correctly (which is a bit hard considering that it's one giant paragraph), the deal was $5500 plus a bone stock Fox...and depending on the condition of the bone stock Fox $3500 plus the trade could be a fair deal as well.
I have paid full price for some things, and I've bought some things at screaming deals. I've sold plenty of things under both those scenarios as well. I'm in the car business...there are plenty of times that I've dropped a car price by 30% or more because it's something we needed to get off the property. You never know how motivated a seller is. Instead of whining about lowballers, just say "sorry, no thanks" and be done with it.

It must not be to big of a piece of shit. I've sold 3000$ worth the parts and still have the roller, fuel system, hpipe, catback and tr3550. The deal was supposed to be a nice fox gt and 1500$ and I thought that was a damn gift.
And just for the record no ones "whining" im just calling a spade a spade.
Isn't a spade a shovel? Lol shovels and hoes.... I love a good hoe. Lol

If you really want to sell something a low ball offer is better than none at all and you can just say no. I know it gets frustrating but so is sitting on something forever. Just a thought. When people need what you are sellign they will pay your price, when they will take it if the price is right they low ball you. The frustrating thing is trying to buy something and people keep changing the price. I just bought a freon recovery unit. I called 3 different people. One guy said $200, then $125 Then $150 Then $200 Then $450 WTF. I bought it somewhere else. The next guy advertised a recovery unit and vac pump with cylinder for $580 and when I called him the story changed to $835 The guy I bought it off of said $350 and took get this $350...

I had a guy come out to look at my old convertible who showed up. Sat in the car. Looked around. And then told me "piece of shit, this isn't even worth the scrap." I told him to get the hell off the property. I sold the stang the week after for 1200 lol

The funny thing is I knew I wouldnt be sitting on it long if I just started selling it off in pieces. I just hated to rip apart a car that worked so well. It was just a classic example of someone thought they found a sucker and they didn't. I'm not afraid to sell one in pieces Its just never my first choice.
