You will need to get a brain box and coil also. I just went with msd 6al, and msd blaster coil. As far as the fuel system i had to be a new exturnal fuel pump.

why wouldnt you just power the original pump off a switch panel or something? Seems to make the most sense and cost the least if you ask me.... Simply ground the pump, and run a relay via switched power to the +12V on the pump....

I've done this swap numerous times. Off the top of my head, here is what you need.

1. Carb
2. Intake
3. distributor
4. msd box (or some type of ignition box)
5. carb fuel pump (Holley blue, loud but works)
6. bigger fuel line, run -8an
7. fuel tank...have it sumped or get an insert like this

I have used this and it works fine
8. The stock efi coil will work
9. accelerator cable from a 1985 mustang gt, available at autozone, etc

Tune it with a screwdriver and a timing light...

The efi pump has too much presure. You will need a completely different fuel delivery system. Regulator, pump and power and ground source.. linkage for the throttle, intake, carb, dist, ign box, and pcv hose will be different also/.

I've done it with just an intake, carb, throttle cable, and a holley max pressure regulator. Used the stock intank pump and distributor. Worked fine regulating it down with one outlet of the regulator used as a return. I have done it on other cars also and it didnt work as well. Don't know if it had to be a wore out stock pump or what!!! But I would listen to everyone else and do it right the first time to save the hassle.

ah I see... I completely forgot that the Carb setup doesnt work so well with lots of fuel... could you use an aeromotive FPR turned down for this?

I did it with a intake, carb, msd dizzy for the use without a msd box and a mallory bypass regulator.Which I still have the regulatorand will sell if ya need it. Worked fine.

Personally i don't trust bypass regulators. I've had standard regulators fail, and if it fails to cut down 40psi down to the 6psi you're gonna run a carb on, you're asking for a fire. The last time i tried it, the car had such an erratic fuel pressure that i took it all off and redid everything the right way, it just didn't feel safe.

Just pull the stock pump out and put a piece of hose in place of the pump, and clamp a sock filter on the end of the hose...that works fine as a sump/pick up tube. Then either run an in-line electric pusher pump or switch to a mechanical timing cover and run a mechanical pump.

Couldve had to small of a return.I know this lol. Did a bigger return line and it fixed the problem.
