i have a 1996 mustang it has a 2001 v6 in her for some reason she keeps overloading on gas and burning my spark plugs up when i first put new plugs in it, it will start right up but after a day or so it starts hard it acts like when i give it gas that its gonna die kinda sounds like its coughing and the sparks plugs are completly black again. if you can help please do so this car is killin me but i love it so much lol.

Those are really known to have head gasket issues and to crack the heads. That really doesn't sound like your issue but it can do strange things. Buring the plugs up sounds dangerously lean. Check for vac leaks and make sure fuel pressure is good and the filter isn't plugged. Clean the maf too.

Alan the 2001 v6 are not prone to headgaskets or cracking the pre 99 where!

Yeah I saw 96 in the first place. How is the imrc being controlled on a 96 pcm?

I tried 01 comp it wont even fire and i can smell gas rlly bad so i know its gettin to much

it is not he would have to have delete them, and convert to a return style fuel rail setup! i plug up my catalylic convert on my 01 and had a simular result!

No blocked egr and i run straight pipes to mufflers

imrc's are in the intake manifold there are butterflies that close one of the intake runner off!

If you need a return style fuel rail for a split port head i have a early van one you could try!

Exactly the intake has dual runners on the split port motors. If you don't open them you'll have a turd under throttle. If you open them all the time you'll have a turd at low rpm.

I never noticed a difference when i deleted mine! throttle responce was better!

99 and 2000 model never had them 2001 was the first year it was for fuel economy!

Really, I know my 99 van has them and it acts up occasionally. The markVIII's if you delete them run like poo unless you put a huge freakin stall in them.

yeah but the 99 and 00 v6 mustang did not, i deleted my 01 V6 and my 98 mark VIII imrc and never noticed a difference! in responce!

Do shud i play with the imrc i know wat ur talkin about the lever on nack of intake that open an closes the butterflys inside it

I have $75 in them i like to get that i was going to convert my 2001 to a return setup , a cheap thing to do is wire imrc open and see if that help your problem!

I have to manually adjust it and i did it seems to run better gonna give it a couple more days to see wat happens ty to all who helped

It helped alot but still overloads a bit
